The Crooked Roof — Restaurant in Lanark

The small town charm, decorations, drinks, and food selections were great. For whatever reason it was a miss on service. We came in and waited for three or four minutes and saw people running around helping tables and we were with our two kids. There was no sign to wait to be seated or not, and they made eye contact but didn't talk with us. We finally asked someone and they said oh yeah over here and got us seated which was fine. Then we ordered appetizers and a pizza. We did have our family with us and for whatever reason the pizza took over an hour to come out. Then when we are finally getting up and leaving because it wasn't being brought out after over an hour, they said. Oh yeah your pizza's almost up that one takes really long so it'll be a little while longer. They also never came out and gave us one single drink refill including water for that whole hour and 15 minutes were there waiting for our pizza.

Not saying this is everyone's experience but it definitely delayed our night. Quite substantially and we're not happy with not getting refills and/or communication...

Great atmosphere and great food. The decor is unique. They have live music on some days, which performs on their stage. We went in winter so can't say much about their outdoor seating, but it appears to be pretty extensive and accoring to other reviews, that I've seen the outdoor seating acts a beer garden during the summer. Their bar is fully stocked, and the bartender comes out with seasonal or holiday based drinks. I can see where some people complain about full service they definaly get busy, but the servers work their tails off to make sure you have everything you need. When it comes to food, the Crooked Roof definitely has some of the best burgers you're going to find out here. My significant other had the pork chop with apple butter and said it was delicious. The best part is that they source their meat locally from the butcher across the street! If you're in the area, I highly recommend...

Went there for Friday night fish. It was all you could eat. The food was good. I don't really care for the really big steak fries so I didn't eat those, but would have liked another piece of fish. However, out waitress never returned to our table so I could ask. Never offered a drink refill, never checked back until much later and by that time I was over it, we paid and left. My boyfriend had steak, it was good. Could I have gone and gotten a waitress? Yes, but should I have to? This place isn't very big, and wasn't that busy. We would probably try again, but not a good...
