Stopped by at the recommendation of my friend who talked about the huge baked potato. I called my order in for two loaded baked potatoes and the friendly lady over the phone said it would be 15 minutes. We showed up on time and as we parked, we saw a gentleman remove some smoked goods from a big smoker out front and walk with the meats in hand carefully back inside the building, we knew we were in the right place. As we walked through the front door; the aroma of fresh smoked BBQ filled my nose and just about took me back in time when my old man was throwing some good ol’brisket on his smoker. We stood briefly in line to pay for our order and we’re greated by a friendly and welcoming smile. She could tell it was our first time. She repeated our order but quickly apologized advising us that the friendly person who took our order did not add brisket to our potatoes and rest assured us it was going to quickly be prepared. While waiting, I ordered a warm peach cobbler that was ever so placed strategically near the counter, I couldn’t resist so as I waited for the rest of my order, I ate my peach cobbler that could’ve been baked by angels themselves. After a few minutes and a guilt trip from devouring my cobbler in about 4 bites, my order was ready. I reached over The counter and was handed my order in a single bag that felt as if it could’ve been a gallon of milk. I also was handed to large styrofoam cups of koolaid. As I walked back to my car with my food and drinks in hand under the bearing Texas sun, I unwrapped my straw which felt like and eternity and placed the straw upon my parched lips and took a sip. The Koolaid was so well prepared....it wouldn’t have surprised me it was made with the purified waters of Lake Minnetonka. I made the drive home savoring my koolaid and walked into my house, carefully setting up my TV tray in my bedroom anxiously anticipating to see the behemoth monster potato in my food container. The time finally arrived and I prepared to go to battle, I carefully opened the lid and was staring face to face with this behemoth of a potato! It was loaded with juicy sliced brisket, butter, sour cream, chives, and BBQ sauce. Needles to say...the potato won. On a serious note though...customer service was awesome and food was good ol’ Home cooking BBQ....
Read moreThis is really good barbecue. The dining area is bare bones: an order counter, a few tables and booths, a couple of tv's that probably exist only to broadcast Gators and Cowboys games, and some good blues being played from speakers. They're located next to a half closed mechanic shop/car wash and the parking lot fits maybe 6 cars. If it's busy, you'll have to park in the surrounding field and maybe stand in line outside the door to order. But none of that matters because the food is transcendent. Like, just order it to go, take it with you and chow down on the deliciousness in front of any jabronis who were too foolish to get in on Gators goodness with you. I wasn't a big fan of barbecue until recently. Because of my travels, I've had a chance to try a few different joints, from the South, to St Louis & KC, out to the West Coast. Gators is a top 3 barbecue joint in my personal nationwide ranking, and if you don't like it, we can fight. Then after we scrap, the loser is going to treat the winner to a Gators 3 meat platter and we'll become best friends because THE FOOD IS LEGIT, SON. And I'd know. I've had Bludso's BBQ from the La Brea & Melrose location in LA. The only negative is that it's not close to anything in DFW unless you live in Lancaster. It's right across the street from Lancaster High's stadium and I'm hoping the students, faculty and their families realize how blessed they are to be in such close proximity to greatness. If you're on I-20 & you know you're going to get hungry at some point in your life, make a detour to Gators. You're...
Read moreI have had the most horrible experience at this place today, I have been going to gators for the last year that I’ve been in Lancaster and the service has gone from 10 to 0, in the past I have had experience the greens being a little under cooked to my liking or maybe the breaks I ordered were a little tough BUT TODAY TOOK THE CAKE, I ordered a small breaks and 2 chop beef sandwiches, got in my truck and ate 1 of the east Texas Hot links that were in the order of breaks and the taste was funny like meat that had been sitting out 2 seconds later I was throwing up before I could get out of the parking lot, my initial thought was maybe it’s just me, then as I got closer to home my stomach began to feel really funny, I called back to Gators and spoke with a lady TRACY and explained to her my experience🤦♀️This woman had the nerve to tell me THATS WHAT BREAKS ARE OLD MEAT FROM THE DAY BEFORE😮with no remorse....She never once apologized, she never once said let me take the other meat down so no one else will get sick NOTHING, matter of fact she put the phone down and ignored me, she stated she was the owner and if she is God bless her, your business will never grow with the type of service you provided me with Today....I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE AND I AM GOING MAKE SURE EVERYONE I KNOW NEVER GOES TO THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN!!!!
Ps: I will be letting the health department know that you take pleasure in selling old meat from the...
