We visited for the first time Valentines Day for dinner and were less than impressed. Let me start by saying that we do plan to visit another day and try them out on what is hopefully a less busy day for them and give them another shot. We made reservations a few days prior for 8 people. When we arrived to the restaurant, we had to wait in a very long line to let them know we had a reservation. Once we did they seated us….outside. Naturally some members of our group were upset, as when you make an advance reservation, you expect to be seated on the patio and not far back on the very cold deck outside.
Once our waiter arrived, we asked for a heater or two to put around the table as some in our party were elderly and freezing. The waiter told us the ones we saw that weren’t in were broken but that he would call somebody to try and get one to work. That somebody never came. When we asked him again, he said a table “was just finishing up” and we could have that one. What a joke. 30-40 minutes later and they were just finally leaving. When he brought us the heater (after having to be asked yet again) he blew the light out in the process of rolling it over to our table and didn’t know how to turn it in so said he would “send over the people that know how to turn them on”. Of corse that never happened. We ended up having to google it ourselves and turn it on ourselves. Shortly after this we watch a couple get seated by one of the heaters our waiter said “didn’t work” and hat do we see but their waiter turning it on for them. Surprise, surprise it worked. Thats when we realized that our waiter just didn’t want to be bothered.
Our waiter started off the night telling us what the restaurant already ran out of, which was quite a lot considering we arrived at only 7:30pm. They were out of many fish dishes, their NY strip, and their sirloin. Our food finally came out after an hour and 30 minutes of when we were seated at the table. Most of our food was luke warm at best. I personally had the braised short rib and both the short rib and mashed potatoes were like warm. The food tasted wonderful, but as someone who likes their food piping hot, I was very disappointed. Two of our group ordered the ribeye and selected for one of their sides, the loaded baked potato.
To their surprise when we got the bill, there was a $3 charged added for that. Needless to say we were very confused because that side was not posted in the menu as having any kind of up charge from the other sides and of corse our waiter never bothered to say anything. When the ribeyes finally came, the one ordered medium well came medium at best. And neither ribeye had the garlic herb butter as was listed on the menu. The veggie for the way broccoli with heirloom tomatoes yet none of us who got the broccoli could find any hint of a tomato, so they probably ran out. Some of our group had the meatball appetizers before the meal and the center of the meatballs were cold like they had been sitting in a fridge. Others in our group had the mac and cheese and the macaroni was so overcooked it disintegrated in your mouth.
We told the waiter of our disappointments from the very beginning and not once did he offer to get the manager to speak with us, even after one of our party said they’d like to speak to one. Overall, we had much higher expectations. I understand being overwhelmed, but the customer should never fell that big you can’t keep up, simply don’t seat people. Either tell them they have to wait or turn them away and tell them they need to make a reservation. And for goodness sakes c if someone makes a reservation, don’t sets them in the patio unless they ask or unless you ask them if the...
Read moreTonight was our first time at Stonewater grill. We walked in and the atmosphere was totally great. Loved the entire vibe of the place. We asked the hostess what the wait time was and she advised 10-15 mins for an inside table 1 hour to an hour and a half for outside. My husband and I said no problem we’ll take first available. The hostess provided us with a buzzer and I said we’d be at the bar. The band tonight was great, the bar was packed but we were still able to order drinks. I tried the Bees Knees, strong but good, and my husband had a Corona ($26). After 20 mins went by, which we expected somewhat of a wait for a table, two gentlemen got up and offered their seats to us. We sat down and decided to just eat at the outside bar. The bartender, who’s name we don’t know, greeted us and we ordered drinks. This time I ordered a glass of wine and another corona for my husband. We ordered the fish dip and charcuterie board. Both were very good. Unfortunately, once our food arrived, we were never addressed again after that. My husband and I shared one napkin the entire night. I asked for a to go box, after waiting 20 mins for someone to address us, as the charcuterie board was very big. We wanted to order an entree but again not one staff member came back to check on us. Just so you know the time frame, we arrived at 7:40p advised 10-15 mins for a table and at 9:30p still never got a buzz from our buzzer. Luckily we got seats at the bar, so no big deal. We almost walked out for having to wait 20 mins for a to go box and check, but in good consciousness I couldn’t walk out. I spoke with the manager, she was apologetic and said she’d get the bill. We never expected anything free. However, even after speaking with the manger we waited another 10 mins to get a bill. At this point, we should have just left. Nothing was compensated back to us for the lack of service and we paid full price for items with nothing to take home ($58 additional). The manager should have at least taken a drink off for the inconvenience. Very disappointed as we were hoping this would be a local spot we’d love to come to on the regular. However, we will give the restaurant a second shot, because it was the Friday after hurricane Ian and maybe they were just short staffed. This is the first time we’ve never tipped, and waking this morning I feel bad for not leaving our server something. I was just very upset with lack of acknowledgment. I’ve never left a good or bad review before but I wanted to share our disappointment in our service because it should have been better. We are foodies and drive all over to try new restaurants and this visit wasn’t the best. Bummed we didn’t get to try more items but we didn’t feel as thought the staff cared if we were there or not. Hoping second visit...
Read moreFirst time in. Always see the parking lot over flowing with cars so a group of us decided to check it out tonight. Service was great and accommodating, mixed drinks are extremely over priced for size and recipe. We had the key lime martini, good taste, weak alcohol content and was served 1/2 full. The berry margarita, again good flavor, on the weaker side and small - both were over $10 and poor value for price. Appetizers, we had the poke nachos and the pork kettle chips. The poke nachos were the highlight of all foods served - fresh tuna, huge portion, amazing flavor! The kettle chips were good and balanced with the sauce and mac&cheese. Agree with most that the appetizer prices are high however the appetizers were much better than the entrees (compliments to the short order cook on the line ✅). Entrees, short rib sandwich was very dry and lacked flavor - fry’s were comparable to a Burger King consistency. Creamy Chicken Penne dish, was not creamy and served with an immense amount of pasta not strained well which watered down the dish further. The prices of the dishes were in line with what I would expect “if” the dish delivered on flavor. Pasta was not served with any complimentary toast/bread. The menu is over whelming with too many styles of food. I’d recommend to refine the menu down 25-30% and perfect key dishes. Literally they have American Diner, Hawaiian, Chinese, Seafood, Italian, vegan/veggie, and your typical Grill selections. The ambience is what sells this place - it’s on the water, great outdoor seating, live band but they sincerely under delivered on the quality of food. Appetizers could be 1/2 the size and 1/2 the price - when entrees are only a few dollars more, why call them appetizers. The experience wasn’t bad enough to not give them another try later, on a less busy night, but based on other reviews I’m not optimistic. It just really sucks because other than chain food - we really don’t have a great local place that checks all the boxes. I was hoping to coin Stonewater as the place to bring family & friends when visiting us. We spent over $300 for 6 people before tipping, 3 drank water, and got Applebees food quality.
Feedbacks is a gift! Hopefully the owners take note of what their customers are saying and make some adjustments otherwise it’ll be a typical Pasco business; here today -...
