Stopping by Jake’s Java is like walking into a living tribute, not just to great coffee and food, but to the memory of the Gundam 22 crew who gave everything for their country. This small, family-owned café was founded in honor of Jake, who passed away while serving in the military. Inside the shop their walls are filled with photographs of the crew and personal mementos dedicated to each member on the tables, giving the stand an atmosphere that is both deeply personal and profoundly moving.
The owners have done a beautiful job of blending their passion for coffee with a mission to remember and honor their son and crew. Every detail in the shop, from the handwritten menu to the dedication of the crew, reflects their love for him, the crew, and the community that supported them through their loss.
The coffee, food, and pastries here are excellent, too. This is the perfect stop to grab a bite and drink before heading up to Mount Greylock.
But what truly sets Jake’s Java apart is the warmth and generosity of the family and staff that runs it. They take the time to chat with each customer, sharing their story and the importance of remembering those who serve.
If you’re looking for a local café with heart, where you can feel the love behind every cup, Jake’s Java is a must-visit. It’s a place where community, remembrance, and great coffee come together...
Read more⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Jake’s Java is an absolute gem in Lanesborough, MA! We travel to the Berkshires multiple times a year, whether for family gatherings or just to unwind, and every visit feels like coming home. This past trip, my husband and I needed a quiet weekend, and we happened to stay at an Airbnb just down the road from Jake’s Java. After stopping in on day one, we ended up making it our go-to spot for the next four days. From the coffee to the pastries and sandwiches, everything was delicious and hit the spot perfectly. But what really stood out was the outstanding customer service and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. During our visits, we learned about the touching story behind the shop. We had heard about an Air Force pilot from the Berkshires who passed away last year, and as we read the story shared in the café, we realized this brave young man was Jake. On our last day, we connected, his incredible mom, was the one giving us cheer and smiles each day (plus team) who has managed to honor her son’s memory by running this cozy spot, greeting everyone with a smile and a warm cup of cheer. Jake’s Java is more than just a café—it’s a place that embodies love, community, and resilience. If I were a local, I would be here every day. P.S. Highly recommend their maple and...
Read moreGreat coffee and wonderful people. They have a decent size and yummy looking food menu but I didn't read it completely or have any food.
They accommodated my 'special bean request' that required a special non standard bag/size etc with total grace and true kindness, as if I was staying at their home or something.
The lady who runs/owns the place I believe (and who's name escapes me at the moment!!) was truly a warm and wonderful person.
This place just opened and needs more 'internet hype'!!!! It needs to change that they didn't come up via a 'coffee near me' search in Google maps and only by chance did we get lucky enough to drive by while vacationing in the area with family.
If you go and love this place like we did pay it forward and...
