Sweet Encounter Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in Lansing

Beyond disappointed to say the least. Wanted to treat myself for my birthday so I ordered from here. Wasn’t cheap, I paid $70 for a six inch cake. They literally didn’t write the only thing I asked them to— just the numbers 2 and 1. The colors were also off, I asked for pink and red and it’s two shades of light pink, no red in sight. I was told they didn’t know why it didn’t get finished and given an apology. I had even called them earlier this week to confirm they got the reference photo and were capable of replicating it. I now have to go buy icing and finish decorating the cake I paid to be decorated. I ordered from you guys to take stress off my plate, not add it :(

For reference, this cake serves maybe 10 people. I could have gotten a sheet cake from Meijer, decorated exactly how I asked for it, that serves 80+ people for $10 LESS than what I paid here. My roommate has had multiple good experiences ordering from the Meijers around here so I will be sticking to that now to save my wallet and reduce stress. Sweet Encounter Bakery & Cafe' was the perfect venue for my family to host the celebration of my doctoral graduation on April 26, 2024. The cafe' provided a beautiful, intimate ambiance for our guests. The gourmet vegan and gluten-free catering was so delicious guests said they could not taste any difference. We went with the baked potato bar with a variety oftoppings, chicken and waffle appetizers, cookies, ice tea and lemonade. And topped it off with a delectable graduation carrot cake. The catering staff was extremely attentive and executed the buffet beautifully. They went above and beyond in the set up and clean up. And had everything under control for our family and guests of 35 to enjoy a wonderful and memorable time in our lives. I really enjoyed the sweet encounter catering experience. They served us Red Velvet & Pineapple Upside Down Cupcakes at the University Activities Board & Caribbean Student Assoications: Caribbean Music Festival. With about 300 students, 300 cupcakes lasted all night and they were amazing. I really enjoyed the pineapple upside down cake because of the soft texture & fresh pineapple. And the red velvet had the sweetest & creamiest icing with the classic red velvet cake that was nice and moist. Also I must mention the timeliness of the delivery. With running an event its important to have punctuality & I really appreciate how straight forward our process of order & delivery was.
