My family was seated in the far back room around 8:30 p.m. While waiting for our food, our waitress brought her cleaning supplies, rags, mop and bucket into our area. She sat her supplies on the tables beside us. She brought paper towels and ketchup to swap out at the tables and piled them on tables near us. She sprayed the table tops with aerosol window cleaner. The cleaner smell was overwhelming. The ceiling fans blew the spray all over. The smell severely affected our sinuses. We all could taste the spray. We decided to not drink our drinks either because we didn't ask for aerosal window cleaner to be added to our drinks. We were not pleased. We did not go out, as a family to eat, to watch and smell someone cleaning around us. One of our family members asked the waitress to please stop spraying cleaner. She turned off the ceiling fans. After she brought our food, which was completely cold, she continued her mopping and then started spraying the other tables. Then she swapped out the ketchup, which we were using and the paper towels at our table. She did all of this while we were readying our food, to begin eating. As each of us tasted our cold, congealed cheese topped foods, everyone at our table agreed that our food tasted odd and deduced the reason was the chemicals in our sinuses and our mouths. Three of the four of our party did not continue eating. So, we asked for boxes, paid for our non-appealing, gross tasting food and left. When this waitress originally started cleaning, there were two other tables, where two other families were eating but soon after she started spraying cleaner, both families asked for the bill, paid, got out of their chairs, and left the restaurant. Looking at the tables filled with leftover food, it didn't seem as though they were finished with their meals. For many, many years we were regular attendees at your eatery. The last 5 times we have eaten at your pub, our food was terrible. We have no intention of returning at this time. This was not a pleasant experience for the four of us. On our way out. We observed and overheard a conversation between our waitress and a fellow waitress. Our waitress was spraying window cleaner on a table in the connected room where the wait staff enters and exits the kitchen. People were seated at other tables in that room and they were eating. The other waitress, quietly told our waitress. "There you go with that cleaner again. That stuff smells terrible. You need to stop." Our waitress laughed it off and continued to clean. To top it all off. The one family member in our group, who ate half of his 12 inch cheese steak, woke up at 4:00 a.m., left for work and had to stop a Kwik Fill to vomit. Luckily for me, I took one small taste of my cheese steak and opted to take it home. I did not eat it and now I deffinately won' t eat it. Wasted time, wasted food and wasted hard...
Read moreWe visited here on 3/13/2021 at 3:30pm. We came from Clarion, an hour away for our birthday dinners (Me and my sis's bf). My wife gave the hostess her number for a call when our table would be ready (Approx. 30 mins). We went outside. My sister and her bf bought lottery tickets, $60 worth to pass the time. We were all very patient, but time passed and lots of people came and went so I went in to see where we were on the list. What I found out was 6+ tables were seated past us and she said we were already seated. Um, NO?. She said i called you. I said NO. She pulled up her phone to prove to me and in the history was my wife's number, but she switched the last 2 numbers. Never tried again. I was upset but pleasant, however she got very rude. Her words were "I'm sorry but were all human and make mistakes" in a smirky kinda voice. She then seated us at the largest table and we were instructed we all had to sit in a row. I am hangry at this point and when our waitress came over my wife expressed our displeasure. Waitress said that a table was finishing up and she would relocate us if we wanted. We accepted. At the new table we were finally able to get drinks and order. Our waitess was not the most friendly, despite our efforts to be kind. She was obviously catering to the table next to us, avoiding us, possibly thinking we weren't the money table. We look back and at that previous table and there were people sitting on both sides, really? We finally get our food, which was all put together very good, except my salad. I told her i wanted to add bacon, egg and blue cheese crumbles. It took her 10 mins to return for me to tell her they forgot the egg. She said "I didn't hear egg" rudely. I think "I'm sorry sir, let me get you some egg" would have been more appropriate. I had put in a wing order also togo. When we went to get the check and pay she obviously forgot the wings togo, but played it off as they were bagging them for us right then. I had 2 checks now, leading to the idea she never put in the order. We never had any apologies from her and she took forever between every stop. We finally got outside and it was 6pm. We literally were there for 2.5 hrs and guess how many drinks I had? Two! i had two birthday beers in all that time yet had no problem having an $80 tab for 2. What a joke and I want everyone to know how we...
Read moreTraveled from Lancaster County PA and stopped at Clearfield. A suggestion was made for us to goto Denny's Beer Barrel Pub by some of the local folks. I've remembered the pub from The Food Network and I believe a PCN (Pennsylvania Cable Network) episode. So we stopped. Our son, my wife, and me.
I've got to say we went in there and ordered some non alcoholic drinks, a chocolate milk for our son and our food which was chicken & fries for our son, Chicken salad for myself, and my wife ordered wings and a pork bbq sandwich. IT WAS ALL AMAZING!!!! Well I GUESS MORE THAN AMAZING BECAUSE before we had left we ordered dishes to go: 1/2 pound burger for my wife, potato skins with bacon and mozarella for myself along with onion rings.
We've eaten some excellent comfort food in our life, but it was absolutely well worth our stop. We blew our dining budget with that particular stop for the day but we couldn't (and still haven't) stopped talking it up to our friends and families about the dining experience.
Now one small caveat though..... We honestly loved the place, but the road in front of there is under construction and getting back to the actual restaurant was a nightmare with the construction. Knowing absolutely nothing about the restaurant they told us it would be about 1/2 - 3/4 of an hour wait. There was hardly anyone inside and we still had to wait. We arrived after the lunch rush. I understand that this might be because of the COVID-19 Social Distancing Experiment, however we personally felt that the empty seats (on a Monday for that matter) were more than sufficient. The staff were friendly though.
We will be making another trip out there in the near future (maybe even later today (HINT HINT) and the 3 1/2 hour drive is something that Denny's Beer Barrel Pub is worth the trip for.
Did I say it was a incredible, and you could tell that LOVE was mixd into the food. This time around I hope to be able to enjoy a adult...
