Came here on parent's recommendation.
First thing that'll stand out is the friendliness of everyone, from the staff to the patrons. We have a 8½ month and 2 ¼ year old and everyone was extremely friendly and receptive, which was nice. Sometimes you'll get a vibe of not being welcomed with children (even well behaved, zero crying) and this place was absolutely not that. Great atmosphere.
The restaurant itself is small and seating is rather limited. There is a good amount of seating but given how many people were there is why we say it's limited during breakfast hours. Nobody had to wait for seating though and that's a testament to the staff and cooks being able to get the orders and food out quickly.
Service we received was good, staff was very friendly...every staff member greeted and interacted with our children, was a great experience.
When my wife and I try new food places we like to get a wide variety of food. Starting from what we liked most.
Biscuits and Gravy - Biscuits were absolutely spectacular, fantastic. My wife enjoyed the sawmill gravy, I wasn't as big a fan though.
Home Fries vs Hash browns - We got both and we preferred the Home fries overwhelmingly. My mom is a huge fan of the hash browns though so to each their own.
Funnel cake fries - Very delicious. Light and airy, would recommend. Compare to skyline funnel cake fries, these blow those out of the water (unsurprisingly)
---- From here no particular order
Bacon - Order bacon, eat bacon, tastes like bacon. What you'd expect ordering bacon.
Eggs - The way they can be prepared are very elementary, they were average. Wife's scrambled eggs were overcooked
Pancakes - Wasn't anything to write home about, typical pancakes, although rather large (plate sized). The pancakes came out cold and I think would have been prevented if they were cooked towards the end of our big order.
Goetta - Very disappointing. Cooked well but bland and missed the mark.
TLDR: Small establishment, limited seating, good service, very friendly atmosphere, typical...
Read moreThis dinner draws a lot of attention from the locals. But if your not from this area, steer clear of this restaurant less you get clipped. I was charged $3.00 for these little thimbles of jelly. The Waitress asked if I would like to have some onions and cheese cooked in with my home fires. Little did I know that was another $4.00 up charge. I asked if the ham was real ham or lunch meat ham. I was assured it was real. When my breakfast arrived, it was a slice of lunch meat ham. At this point I should have left. There is a note on the ticket they bring to pay your bill with, that says there will be a service charge added if you pay with a debit card. They charged me an additional $5.00 for using my debit card.
For an $11.00 breakfast I paid an additional $12.00 of up charges. If you're from out-of-town steer clear of this clip joint.
Heidi… this review is spot on accurate as to what I was charged. Three thimble sized jelly packs at a $1.00 each is hardly an endless supply of jelly. Those are worth abut 5 cents each. A full jar of smuckers jelly is $3.80 at full retail. And Yes…. The $4.00 up charge for 1/2 ounce of cheese and 1/2 once of onions was what your place charged me. The charge for using my debit card for an $11.00 breakfast should have only been 44 cents at best. If this isn’t your standard practice with out of town guests then you better keep an eye on your employees that are clipping customers. Thank goodness I didn’t ask for any creamer for my coffee, or use any salt and pepper. What’s the up charge if I dropped my fork on the floor and requested a clean fork. Lord knows you can’t have people requesting an endless supply of clean silverware. My post is 100 % accurate regardless...
Read moreThe good: great food, cool 50's diner vibe, decent prices. The bad: it's probably the poorest managed, most disorganized restaurant ever.
I've never been to a place where they have so many employees tripping over one another while not actually getting anything accomplished. Like, why do you need 4 people to bus tables in a place that only has like 20 tables? And why can't any of them help with orders or cashing out the check?
I used to eat here fairly regularly, but the last 4 times that I came here for breakfast I had to wait more than 30 minutes to get a table. In each case I then had to wait for another 30ish minutes for someone to take my order. The last two visits I wound up sitting for over an hour waiting for my food, while watching tables that came in after me get served.
Today after waiting an hour and 10 minutes after being seated, the server who took our order approached and apologized for forgetting to put our order in. She identified herself as the manager and said they were short staffed and that our food would be covered by the restaurant and that it would be right out... 15 minutes later we were still waiting. We watched them fulfill other orders that were placed after we were told they would have our meal out right away.
After 20 minutes we left because there was no urgency in correcting the issue and at that point we were starving. This sort of thing should never happen at a restaurant, and unfortunately it seems to be all too common here. We...
