Good Vibes Coastal Cantina

What a splash! Great entrance to the chef-driven culinary cantina scene. And in our own backyard right on Main Street. So much attention to every detail. It’s a gift to the eyes and the taste buds. Chef Eric does it again!

Meal Details: Monday Night Dinner 8 people aged 12-70 Drinks: Low Rider: 10/10 for flavor and quality It’s sweeter than I would usually prefer but as I was going in for some spice that night it was a good balance

Others had drinks that I can’t recall, but all happy. Liquid Nitro Margaritas: 11/10 WOW. Felt like I was in Dr Frankenstein’s laboratory. An entire 8-10 minute performance/production creating this witch’s brew of green glowing goo delight. Using high quality tequila that showed on the palate through drink. Makes 6-8 drinks so that mitigates the potentially initial sticker shock, but it’s the same price as 6-8 regular margaritas. So Fun. Great with a group.

Apps: Chips & Salsa 10/10 First of all I always loved his chip taste, crunch, and texture at Good Vibes Burgers/Coastal Kitchen and this finally gets a proper showcase. The two salsas (red & green) are a good balance that you want. Probably both in the low-medium spice. So the flavors are evident throughout.

Queso de Vida 9/10 Great flavors. Good mix. Table favorites for sure. Plentiful portions. And another good showcase for the sturdy chips. May try the other Queso offering next time to get more kick.

Meals: I couldn’t decide but was masterfully influenced by the well-versed and passionately knowledgeable server as she moved me to the enchiladas. Wow. I was leaning birrria taco and another as I loved them at the other location. (Will have to order next time) so… Enchiladas Suizas 9/10 WOW As advertised. She said it was a the perfect spice level to get after you but let you enjoy. The others who tired said it was delicious out but too spicy. I loved. Chicken inside, spicy green sauce that was glorious. I think I like the old school enchiladas that are more gelatinously connected haha. Thus the 9/10 as they’re three separate rolled flour tortillas and still very solid. Wow these were delicious. Elite Wagyu Corndog 9/10 Which a rando menu option I had for try. Super quality ingredients, elite toppings and creme on top, but batter was still crispy. Felt like a fun state fare dish which brought back pleasant memories and vibes. I should’ve dipped in queso. That would hav sour it over the top. Sides: Elote corn. 8/10 I had to. Very good. Was a little dry. They probably do a lot of these and this may have sat there a bit waiting for the rest of the food. But great flavors. Could eat so many of these. Half cob size. Jalepeno Mac & Cheese 9/10 White cheese. Creamy and dreamy. Jalapeño and rich creme is a beautiful combo. Small portion was perfect side. And well shared as everyone wanted a bite.

Others had the chicken rice bowl, fired fish taco, burger, Dr Pepper Ribs, avocado taco and all were loved.

Desserts: Tres Leche 8/10 I don’t like tres Leche and neither does my wife. “Soggy cake” BUT if you do like it then you will love this. Substantial portions that 8 full people couldn’t finish. The icing is divine tho.

Mexican Chocolate Cake w/sangria sorbet 10/10 I’m not a dessert guy and would usually prefer another order of chips & salsa to dessert but wow. I couldn’t stop enjoying this combo. Cake was perfect, but sangria sorbet more than complimented as intended, it Amy have stole the show with the chocolate complimenting.

Atmosphere: 10/10 vibe check passed Sat on patio. Wow! Even better than the other location. Looking forward to temperature improving even more, but it was so shaded, breezy, and pleasant. Inside is stunning. Crisp, vibrant colors throughout. Fun bar area, nice flowing seating area. Quite full for a Monday. Wonderful art & murals full of creativity and adding to the vibes.

Service: 10/10 Incredibly knowledgeable and cheerful staff. Chef Eric runs a tight ship and a happy ship.

Hubby and I had been looking forward to their opening, since we love Good Vibes in Pearland.

Overall, we realize this was the first week, but we were pretty disappointed. That said, like any new restaurant there are bound to be growing pains.

Atmosphere: The decor is cute and the tables have plenty of space, which is a plus. We were seated right away, but the music was so loud in the back room, that we asked if they could adjust it, which they did.

We both ordered Vibin Ritas on the rocks, because we didn't see just a standard house margarita on the menu. I'm not sure what we actually got, because it was on crushed ice, and did have a lime, but it appeared to be largely seltzer water. I asked about it when they were served, then again when a hostess came by to check on our experience.

We switched to beer. They really need a house margarita, IMHO.

Note: The hostess removed the Vibin Ritas from our ticket.

As for food, we started with Queso De Vida and chips. The Queso was yummy, but sadly, the chips came liberally sprinkled with a southwestern style spice mixture. We requested plain chips, but our server said those were not an option.

I think plain chips SHOULD be available! The flavor from the spiced chips really overwhelmed other flavors in our meal.

For our entree, we decided to try the Fajito Trio, for 2 (picture attached).

The Trio for 2 platter looked a little on the light side, compared to the other huge various plates we'd seen at other tables, PLUS they only brought one bowl of rice and one of Charro beans. The server said she thought it was correct, but went back to check.

Charro beans, when split between two people and trying to eat them with a fork was extremely messy. That said, the Charro beans were my favorite thing out of the entire meal! They were seriously good!!

Note: They later brought out a second side of Charro beans and rice...and a spoon.

As for the Fajitas themselves, not really what I was looking for. The chicken and beef were both quite tender, but were really lacking in salt. They were served with quite a few onions, but rather than grilled, I would consider them caramelized, which made them quite sweet. That may be a personal preference for me, as am not a huge fan of caramelized onions.

We'll let them get a little more time under their belt, then visit again. Sorry that my review seems a little harsh, but I believe in honest reviews. I'd love to see them knock it out of the park, like they do in Pearland!

Caveat: I do update my reviews upon...

From the moment we arrived to this restaurant we had a bad experience. We waited over 10 minutes at the hostess stand to even be acknowledged. During this 10 minute wait we were passed by no less than 10 employees who never even looked our way. When someone finally did arrive to sit us down they attempted to sit my party of 5 adults at a small table for 4 and wanted to add a chair for the 5th adult in the walkway. I asked if there was any chance we could sit at a table of 5 that was directly behind us and the hostess not only said, "I guess" in a rude tone, but she also rolled her eyes at me. Then we waited another 10 minutes before our waitress made it over to greet our table. When I asked if I could order two drinks from the bar the waitress looked at me and said "No" very rudely. She said “you can't have two drinks at the same time. “ My thought was, why not? I have never heard of this rule at a restaurant. Both of our appetizers were horrible. I ordered a 15 dollar bowl of queso for my daughter that was literally less than 1/4 full. The jalapeño mac n cheese tasted like someone had poured jalapeño powder from a bag of chips in water and then poured it on overcooked pasta. It was literally inedible. Then we attempted to order multiple different tacos that were unavailable to order. At least four of the 10 tacos on the menu were not available. They were also having an all you can eat crawfish special that was not available. So eventually my husband and I ordered multiple different tacos of which only one had any flavor at all. We literally left the restaurant with almost every taco we ordered and only a bite out of each. We threw 150 dollars in the trash for the absolute worst food and even worse service. I am not kidding. I do not write these types of reviews. This food was INEDIBLE!!! The wait staff were all incredibly rude and acted like we were lucky we were there. Our waitress had absolutely no customer service skills at all. I WILL NEVER return to this restaurant which is a shame because the first time I ate here several months ago I liked the food even though the service was terrible that night as well. I just chalked it up to a new restaurant with growing pains and staff training needs. Now- it is clear this is nothing more than a poorly run restaurant with low quality food and an even lower bar for service. Avoid at all cost. It is extremely overpriced. We wasted our time and our money for food we could...

After several attempts to dine at Good Vibes Coastal Cantina, we finally got lucky and it was well worth the wait. This vibrant spot has earned its popularity, and now we understand why. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with upbeat energy and seated right away, which felt like hitting the jackpot considering the usual crowd. The atmosphere is casual yet stylish, with an undeniable coastal charm that lives up to the name. Our server, Kayla, was outstanding warm, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. She made great recommendations and kept the experience seamless from start to finish. We started with the chips and salsa, which are anything but ordinary. The chips arrive warm, perfectly crispy, and dusted with a house seasoning that adds just the right kick. They come with both red and green salsa, and honestly, it's hard to pick a favorite. The red has a bold, slightly smoky depth, while the green is bright and fresh with a nice tang. Next came the ceviche tostada, which was an absolute standout. Fresh, vibrant, and full of citrusy flavor, it hit that perfect balance between light and satisfying. The seafood was clearly fresh, and the crisp tostada base added the ideal crunch. It’s the kind of dish that transports you straight to a breezy coastal town with every bite. But the birria nachos stole the show. Loaded with tender, flavorful beef, plenty of melted cheese, and savory consommé on the side, every bite was rich and layered. It’s rare to find nachos that are both indulgent and well-balanced, but these nailed it. There wasn’t a single soggy chip in sight a true feat with a dish like this. We also tried the hatch green chile biscuits, which were completely next level. Flaky, buttery, and packed with the smoky heat of hatch chiles, they’re a creative twist on a Southern classic. Whether you're a biscuit lover or just in for the ride, don’t skip these. Overall, Good Vibes Coastal Cantina delivers on every front: food, service, and as promised good vibes. The flavors are bold and fresh, the portions generous, and the atmosphere laid-back yet buzzing. With so many tempting menu items, this is the kind of place you'll want to come back to again and again just make sure to plan ahead or get lucky like we did. Verdict: Worth the wait. Go for the birria, stay for the biscuits, and soak up the vibes.
