El Zarape Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Leakesville

It's hit or miss lately. I've had some great meals and some not so good. My last 2 experiences were disappointing. The last visit the food had seemed to be different from the normal. The Tamales had far less meat and I wasn't overly impressed. The previous visit I ordered: 3 Tamale specials to go. They had 2 specials posted so I was not expecting any confusion but when I went to pay I realized the bill amount was far too low. I questioned this before paying and the waiter did not enter my order correctly and I wasn't given the correct To-go food. This was discussed for several minutes between myself, the cashier, and the waiter. This waiter is an older gentleman who has been working there for some time, unfortunately communication is difficult since I do not speak Spanish. I thought we finally had everything fixed, my bill was doubled, my 3 take-out orders were bagged up and ready. 30 minutes later I arrived home. I opened the containers to find the order was still not correct, I only had half of the food that I ordered. I called the business and was told that they would give me the missing food. I was appreciative yet disappointed as it would take over an hour to get the food back home again. It just wasn't worth it. I have had other problems with other orders in the past and have learned to overlook them. If I order a Chalupa I would get a Tostata. If I wanted to change something from beef to chicken or cheese it would not be changed and if I ask for Green Chili Sauce I would get Salsa Verde. I choose to go out to eat to enjoy a good hassle free meal. I expect to get what I order, the way that I order it. I don't feel that I am getting this service any longer. Because of the ongoing problems I dont believe I will returning any time soon. I have found a replacement place to dine for now but I wish it didn't come to this. I feel that with some training the wait staff and the kitchen could be very successful. They just have to want to do so, until they make this commitment I will create my own meals or go elsewhere. This is disappointing since they are the only Mexican restaurant in Leakesville. Times are tough for small businesses. I do hope that they understand why some of us are no longer dining with them. STEALING. My girlfriend and I went there and paid for a 30 bill. She signed her name on the receipt as we paid for it with card. She forgot to tip and I asked her that outside she said she didn’t tip. I walk back in and was gonna do a 10 dollar tip and he flashes me the receipt and it’s got an 8 dollar tip on it. I reported it to Better Business Bureau for fraudulent charges and will continue to work on this. The man with the black mustache and bald head stole 30 percent of a 30 dollar meal for a tip. The food is always fresh and is served quickly. I can't say enough about the high quality service here. I highly recommend this restaurant!
