Words cannot express our gratitude for owner Becky and her soul-nourishing Rock Island Cafe. Last Sunday afternoon we were on our bicycles, slogging through freezing rain and bone-chilling cold on the Rock Island Spur of the Katy Trail. (We did not intend to start our annual bike trip in such horrible weather, but so it was.)
Becky welcomed our sodden and exhausted group with open arms, a hot fire, and delicious food. She asked where we were staying that evening. She knew the woman hosting us in the neighboring town of Windsor and reached out to her, asking that she confirm our safe arrival.

Since I visited on a Friday during lent and they offered Catfish I figured this Catholic should give the fish a try, it was very good, my side of tator tots were really good as well and came in an abundance. Washed it down with a good sweet tea.

Read moreThis is currently the lone restaurant choice in Leeton, so we are fortunate the Rock Island Cafe is an excellent one. Large portions of well made food are served here, with daily specials.
The staff are super friendly, checking on you just the right amount. The restaurant can get quite busy, but if you can flex your time just a little, it's not too hard to miss the typical rushes.
The sweet tea is really good and don't forget to take some to go... especially when warmer...
