Buoys at the Lodge — Restaurant in Leitchfield

First of all this is a lake motel, and a very old and dated one at that. I booked this room because I was helping some friends with constructing their cabin at the lake. I really didn't expect much, so that is why I gave it an average rating. Anywhere else I would have rated it Poor. The staff at this motel are very nice and cordial. The restaurant that is attached has the best breakfast I have had in a long time (my own included). ||The rooms are in desperate need of some updating. The phone in the room was missing buttons. The heater in the bathroom was so also missing buttons, and since it was obviously very old, I was surprised it worked, but it did. One of the towel racks came completely off the wall when I touched it. We were in room 101 and it was located all the way at the end, which meant we had to get past all the chairs on the walkway to get to the room. Not easy to do while you are carrying in your bag(s). The bed was surprisingly very comfortable and everything was indeed clean. The vertical blinds weren't much on making me feel very private, so we had to be sure we were "decent" if we weren't in the bathroom with the door shut. Wall unit air conditioner was a little noisy, but it was cool enough to just shut it off.||The do have cable and free wifi, but the wifi signal was very weak. The hotel desk is in with the restaurant, and I mean, literally use the same register, same personnel and all. You could tell it was a place that all the locals knew one another.||The view from both the room and the restaurant is very nice as you can overlook the Marina and boat ramp, watching people come and go.||This wouldn't be a bad place if you were coming in for pretty much what we were and just wanted a place to shower and get some rest in between laboring at a camp site or some heavy fishing on the lake. Unfortunately have to give this place 2 stars due to the service. We were quoted a 30-45 min wait for a party of 8 last night which we were okay with. We ordered drinks from the bar and sat outside while we waited. Our buzzer rang and they sat us after about 40 mins. Then we sat there, and sat there, and sat there. We asked two different people who are server was and if they could send them to our table to order (a waitress that walked by and then the hostess). Finally our waitress comes and apologizes that she’s working the bar and no one told her she had a table…. Our table was seated around the corner from the bar back by the entrance and bathrooms. Why would that do that to this poor woman, and us? She took our orders and was right back to the bar. Someone else brought out our food and she never followed up to make sure everything came out correctly (which it didn’t) and no refills on drinks outside of her initial visit to the table. Thankfully the kitchen was fairly quick for 8 meals and the food was great! Which is why I’m giving any stars. There was an 18% automatic gratuity which was not at all deserved considering she came to our table ONCE other than to bring the check at the end. I understand she was put in a rough position as well since it was a Saturday night and the bar was packed but that is honestly on management. We use to love getting a bite to eat here, but unfortunately since the renovation it has gone severely downhill. They lost a bunch of seating, no longer entertain on the side patio, and obviously have some serious plumbing issues since the entire entrance area inside smelled like sewer. Service has also declined significantly - and it definitely is unfortunately. We had a large party but were willing to split between tables - and were quoted a 2.5 hr wait when no one was in the waiting area. We then watched a party with one less person than ours come in and they were told they could seat them right away - while we were standing right there. We were then told we couldn’t do a to go order - like others have posted. We opted for the all you can eat catfish buffet - and then told we couldn’t get more than one plate. We were told we could get drinks on the patio but that was it - but when a server never asked us our drink order and we complained - we were then told they never said that. Except a table next to us was able to get a full service server at their table. The owner was beyond rude when we voiced our concerns and grievances with our experience… I could go on and on. It really is a shame because we use to like this place - but I will recommend to everyone who will listen not waste your time or money (super pricey) for the service you will get.
