First thing to notice is the price. Maipithai drastically increased prices over their predecessor “ThaiThai Sushi Bowl” on all the sushi offerings. The tuna in the Tuna Hand-rolls had the texture of pudding - I literally couldn’t tell it was actually fish. So I threw away the two hand-rolls I ordered. We also tried the shrimp tempura and it tasted like it was prepared the day before and had been sitting around until it got to us. So we didn’t eat those either. The shrimp tempura roll was as tolerable as something premade at a grocery store. After having paid for dinner and not eating any of it - We went out for burgers at Island Gypsy Cafe. We won’t be returning to Maipithai. Thai by KJ on Marco island is the premier sushi spot around here so we will go there.
