Sadly disappointed with my dining experience here. My daughter and I went to the Main St Grill for breakfast. It was not busy when we arrived, maybe 10 or so guests. We were greeted warmly by a friendly younger waitress, who took our drink order. After receiving our drinks… a coffee and a water, the waitress who would be waiting on us arrived at our table. Unfortunately I didn’t get her name so I will have to describe her by her appearance. She was clearly the oldest waitress that was working this day. She was super unfriendly. She looked like she hated her job. While every other waitress that was working this day had a smile and was friendly and talkative with their respective customers, our waitress was cold, and not welcoming whatsoever. We ordered a Greek skillet, a corned beef omelette and a side of corned beef hash. First off, the menu states that the omelette is “3 egg”. The omelette I was served was so small, I seriously doubt it was a 2 egg omelette. The “corned beef hash ” side was awful. It consisted of sliced corned beef, cut into small pieces, mixed with onions and green peppers. Green peppers? Who puts green peppers in corned beef hash. I have order hash all over the country and never has it contained green peppers. Btw, it doesn’t say it contains green peppers on the menu. This mix is then placed on top of a hash brown patty. After picking out the green peppers, I tried to eat it but that all I could taste. Gross. My daughter enjoyed her Greek skillet. The bill comes. The total does not look correct to me so since our waitress seemed to have disappeared, I asked another waitress for grab me a menu. I will also say, there were no individual prices listed on the bill. Just some unreadable writing on the front and a total amount on the back. After adding up all the listed prices on the menu, it was confirmed that I was over charged by just under 3 dollars. I took the bill up to the cash register, where another young employee was standing. I informed her that I didn’t think my bill was correct, she nicely said she would check it out. Our waitress who was standing behind the counter, eating, saw this exchange and walked over to the cashier and asked what the problem was. Mind you, they are standing 3 feet away from me so I can clearly hear their conversation. After a short time, our waitress says “oh my mistake” to the cashier. She doesn’t apologize to me at all. The cashier then returns and states, sorry you were actually under charged. I’m like, what. She had mistakenly thought that I had eggs included with my side of hash. She quickly apologized and added the correct total(the same total I had added up using the menu). I paid. I would highly recommend keeping a close eye on your bill if you eat here…. Which I would absolutely...
Read moreI normally give places a while to settle in but this has just been bad. And I usually don’t write reviews. But this needs to be said. Don’t order out. They make the food and let it sit out until stuff gets soggy and gross. They tell you a wait time and even if you get there at the exact time and eat the food right when they told you to get it, it tastes like it’s been sitting out for hours. They constantly forget to put things in the bag like sauces or things you specifically ask for, and the service when trying to pick up your food is horrendous. We have tried it 3 different times now, twice ordering out and one eating in, and the food has just not been right. Whole heartedly believe I got food poisoning from them when I ate in the other day. Some days the food is alright but others it’s just bad. We ordered out one more time tonight and they forgot 3 whole things of ranch, the coleslaw had CHUNKS of sugar in it, the burger was soggy and cold, the fries were really cold, and we went back to get the ranch and it tastes sour. Everyone has had different experiences with this place and this is ours. Pictured are the coleslaw with chunks of sugar in it, and the nachos which I whole heartedly believe gave me food poisoning. Something isn’t right about their beef...
Read moreWe have been here a few times because there are not many places to choose from in New Haven. We waited on doing a google review because our first time here was an expensive disaster and the second time we loved everything we ordered. Yet the 3rd time was not great and 4th time it was better. We want this place to succeed because it would be great for our community. There is so much potential here. The food and service can be hit or miss. And with the prices being a little higher than that of other similar restaurants we wish the food would always follow point.
We get the resturant does not want to waste food but serving food burnt and way over cooked or wilty slimy lettuce in a salad is not beneficial for the resturant. It will do more harm than good.
I can say the breakfast burrito is probably the only thing that has been good 3 out of the 4 times we have been here.
We are leaving a three star review for now. We will try this place again in the next couple months and hope we can...
