We ate here with friends on Valentine's Day. The wait staff were lovely. Other than that, our experience was not positive. I ordered the grilled romaine Caesar because I love grilled romaine and do not see that often on menus. In fact, we chose this restaurant for dinner with friends on that evening because I was looking forward to this specific dish. Unfortunately, It reeked of lighter fluid. I am still nauseous from the few bites I had. Given that my food was awful, I also found myself becoming upset at the noise level. It is all exposed brick and hard wood with the voices of people reverberating to uncomfortable levels. Had my food been edible, I might not even have left a review, chalking the wait up to Valentine's Day and the noise level up to modern restaurant decor. But, for a restaurant with the history of Fitchburg's Lucca to send romana alla griglia to the table drenched in lighter fluid is not easily forgivable.
I did not send my food back or make a fuss on the day of our visit, as the dining room was extremely busy and we already had to wait over 45 min for our food. I rarely post a negative review when I have not had a chance to address the problem with the restaurant. If someone wants to respond to this review and give me an explanation for why any cook with send lettuce to the table tasting of fuel and an assurance that this will not be repeated, I am happy to take this...
Read moreGreat restaurant, good service, good food, good drinks and great value. This place has a lot going for it with one thing going against it. First the good stuff! We got the calamari and it was crispy and seasoned well, we could have done without the banana peppers. The fresh rolls were great, good for dipping up some sauce. The salads were good size on a plate big enough to eat from without salad spilling over. Croutons were really good, get extra. My lamb sliders were very tasty but I should have asked for them to be cooked medium. They came with house made chips, awesome warm chips in a bag. She got the haddock, it was good but not spectacular. Our drinks varied, first round was ok but second round was much better. Her black jack margarita was tall and stiff while my Mountain Mule was smooth with a little kick. We had enough room to get the pound cake and berries with ice cream. It was very good cake, fresh whipped cream, good ice cream and lots of fresh cut berries. A great meal. A great value for all the food. Ok, I gave them five stars but would deduct a half point for noise. The place isn’t large but the noise makes it seem like a larger place. Try Lucas, you...
Read moreNice little restaurant with a cool vibe and a diverse menu of continental and American fare, but every offering fell just a little short of impressive. Roasted Brussels sprouts were over drenched in a vinaigrette and over topped with Parmesan … a dish that with just a little more consideration would have been a solid hit. So too with the lobster roll, underseasoned and bland…and so was much of the rest of our meal…you can sense the quality of the flavors but it was all just all slightly … off.
With kids in tow, leftovers were to be had from their meals, and I elected to give the dessert a try after being assured they were house made, electing a slightly undersized slice of key lime pie to go. Two boxes and a to go container were delivered…and a 25¢ charge in the check to “cover the cost of the container”. Aha! This restaurant makes sense now! Their effort to save 5¢ here and 10¢ there seems a likely causal reason for under seasoned food and subpar ingredients.
Too bad, Luccas, you are so close to being outstanding, but too much over the...
