Call Signs is, in my opinion, an esthetically upgraded Taphouse 1637 (same ownership for both establishments). You get great staff at either location - beer knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. The secret ingredient, besides the great staff, is that the owner is truly a beer person. He constantly rotates in good and interesting brews, including a steady regimen of DMV local brews. I've always loved Taphouse 1637, and now Calls Signs adds additional days and hours, which provides a bit more flexibility. Read moreThis place is trying. I have been twice on Wednesday for dinner. Both times it was slow. There were not many people in the resturant but the service was slow. Waiter took a while to come to the table. Food took a long time and seems to come out as the dish is ready rather than all at once but isn't necessarily hot becuaee the waiter takes so long. The only thing off was the music really loud. They did turn it down...
