We usually love this restaurant. We also brag about how the shrimp are grilled perfectly. Not so tonight. We ordered Camarón Mexicanos and the Vera Cruz, both grilled shrimp dishes. The grilled shrimp in both dishes were so tough & both were super salty. In the beginning our waiter was efficient but we saw less & less of him. I was able to ask & get a refill of water. But my son never got his sweet tea refilled. I did not receive the salad that came w/ my meal. I asked the hostess to ask our waiter to come by. A bit later she asked if he had ever came by and I said no. She graciously got my salad for me. The kind lady serving chips also helped us by getting me a to go box. Later we asked our waiter for the bill. Quite awhile later the waiter asked if we were ready for our check. I said we already asked for it. He took it out of his pocket & as he gave it to me he said "I am very busy". There was no mint for mojitos either. We took our bill to the front & I did complain. The gentleman was nice. He was very sorry for our bad experience & offered to take some $ off and that they would also share w/ the kitchen. The chips, salsa, & queso were very good. Overall it was a disappointing experience both in...
Read moreWe visited El Carreton Mexican Restaurant on Wednesday night, and the restaurant was quite full. There was a large group next to us, and we wondered how the service would be. Denise was our server, and she quickly dispelled any trepidation we may have had.. She pleasantly greeted us, and brought our beverages quickly, and gave us enough time to peruse the menu before taking our orders. Shortly after, the chips and salsa arrived, and the chips were warm and the salsa was excellent, with just the right amount of heat. Our food arrived in quick order, but not rushed. I had the Burrito Tapatio, and it's presentation was a clue to the quality of the dish. The vegetables were bright and fresh, and the flavor was definitely a step above what is available in most other restaurants. The portion was substantial, and provided a great lunch the next day! The margarita was quite good, not overly sweet or alcoholic, and was well balanced. All in all, definitely not our last time to enjoy the good service, good food, and great atmosphere. Despite it being a very busy restaurant, it was relaxed and well run. It deserves...
Read moreMy husband And I went for dinner and the food was okay. I've had better, but it didn't make us sick. The atmosphere was really cool, loved the greenery around the lights. But the service was horrible. We had the most inattentive waitress. We had to ask a host who just looked at our table and noticed we were looking around for our queso dip. We ran out of drink. Someone else brought our food. I think we actually only saw our waitress twice. My food was good but had bacon on it, so it was a little salty for my taste. It all seemed very expensive for what it was. Also there was a service fee of $1.55, never was explained or detailed of what it was from. It was just on our receipt. We won't be coming back here anytime soon. I think the worst part of it all was our waitress, but overall very underwhelmed. I recommend La Carreta over by the big Walmart. It's on the other side of town, but it's better food and the service is generally...
