The Corner Cafe — Restaurant in Lexington

As we entered the dining area, there were 2 couples just finishing up and leaving. We took the table that no one had sat at. We couldn't help but notice all the crumbs and specks of food from previous customers all over our table. We also took notice to the owner clearing away the plates off the other 2 tables and quickly removing the tips left behind, but saw ABSOLUTELY no changing of the table cloths nor any wiping or cleaning of ANY kind being done!! I can see NOW that we should have left at this time, but for some reason, we stayed, trying to keep a positive attitude about the uncleanliness we saw. We ordered our drinks and the owner brought them to us, after handling her tip money and dirty dishes without washing her hands!! Our drinks were warm and we were offered no ice. Our food came out fairly fast but it was totally cold!! The bread on both burgers was stale, cracked and crumbly! The cheese was NOT melted!! Look at the pictures and judge yourself! We brought this to the attention of the owner and we got "the deer in the headlights " look as she blurted out that she can't see how that could happen because she grilled the burgers herself!! She asked if she could microwave them for a minute but we said no, we don't eat microwaved food and she just walked away, shrugging her shoulders. We left, but we were decent enough to still leave her a tip. As for the unclean tablecloths.... in this day and the times we live in with all the viruses and bacteria going around, it's not a good practice to use real cloth on the tables. They can harbor germs for the next unsuspecting customer who comes along!! When the owner rung up our bill, we got sticker shock!!! Almost 25.00 for cold, tasteless burgers and warm waters! Whoa!! Bottom line....it didn't do any good to bring these things up to the owner!! She just said how sorry she was and basically walked away. Offering not even the slightest discount for the experience we had!

I truly feel sorry for the way you "handle " a negative but honest review. Someday, your dishonesty will catch up with you. I apologize if the negative reviews fail to placate your ego and how you tend to exaggerate your view of what REALLY happened and what was actually said. Instead of looking at these situations in the eyes of a spoiled child, why don't you try to see them as a learning experience. Like my mom always said, lies have short legs, and you won't be able to run away from the truth on judgment day. Besides, there is a lovely diner just down the road called LEAH'S COUNTRY SIDE DINER great, hot food!! Tasty and delicious!!! 1/2 the price!!! Great service!! And they WIPE THEIR TABLES OFF after every customer!!We will be happy to spread the word! Have a good rest...

If I didn't have to leave any stars, this review would be the one! My wife and I came here because of reading the reviews. Boy, was it a let DOWN! Our burgers were absolutely cold!! We got about a half a ladle of lukewarm beans and a half a handful of chips and two bottles of water. The burgers were sooo cold they didn't melt the cheese! Our bottles of water were truly warm! We were not given a glass of ice for our waters! My wife explained this to the owner and all we got was apologies and an offer to nuke our burgers (which we, first of all don't eat nuked food and secondly, we were almost halfway through before the owner came out to check on everything) I guess it doesn't do any good to say the truth about your order, she didn't even give us a discount of any kind. We aren't looking for a free meal, just some compensation for the low quality and basically bland food we ate. The beans were ok, just lukewarm. We won't be back! UPDATE: RESPONSE TO "OWNER " Your ONLY solution was apologies!!! My wife only said that's okay in response to your offer to NUKE our food!!! And besides, you didn't come out to check on us until we were ALMOST halfway through the meal!!! You are not a very honest or nice person for responding the way you did to an honest review!!!! You shouldn't lie and say you offered to "make us happy ", because all you said was you were sorry and offered to put our food in the microwave!!!! Please don't tell falsehoods only to make yourself look good!!!! It's dishonest and disrespectful....

Was very disappointed after weeks of watching commercials and wanting to go there. The coffee was like water served in cracked cups. The cheese cake was completely frozen. Doesn't anyone make anything homemade anymore? I can buy frozen cheese cake and frozen food for a fraction of the cost, for the prices you see in restaurants I expect homemade and I expect it to be a treat and very good, not pulled from the freezer. This is why I never eat out.

I will say she had beautiful fresh cut flowers on every table, which was wonderful. I'm hopeful she will find a way to make a special place. I brought my boyfriend in that time, an Englishman that lives in France and the french make everything fresh and homemade. Even coffee is made one cup at a time, and it's amazing. The best fresh ingredients, too.

Obviously the owner is not very nice either from her reply. I know what I saw, the coffee was water, cold and the cheese cake was frozen and not homemade at all. If she would look at all my reviews she would have seen I have traveled the world and I've given hundreds of excellent reviews. So much for trying to help someone get better. We...
