The Darlington Inn — Restaurant in Ligonier Township

Went for the Saturday night buffet with my family on our way to Jennerstown speedway. We made google reservations a few days ahead of time. I'm blown away by the authenticity of the food, friendly nature of the staff and other guests, and the quaint nature of this family establishment. Haluski, stuffed cabbage, meatballs, pierogi, and so much more. And the homemade soup with bread as soon as we sat down, no questions asked, here is your soup! My one friend and I live in Johnstown and we have Hungarian ancestry in us, so we decided to give this place a try. It was excellent. The food tasted like we were at home. The food is fantastic, and the service is spot on. We spoke Hungarian to our waitress (she corrected us quite a bit haha) and she told us about the history and her roots. Her grandmother who owns the restaurant is very friendly as well, as she comes and greats the guests. I also love her accent. It felt as if we were in a little piece of Hungary. Köszönöm! I stopped to get a menu and to ask questions for a future visit. Since my ancestry is Slovakian, this Transylvanian and Hungarian cuisine restaurant piqued my interest.

Dining room seats maybe 25, but you can eat at the bar, which one diner was doing. Entrees in the mid-teens $. On Saturday, a buffet is served and menu ordering is not available.

I am very curious to try halupki, halushki, and other ethnic dishes I am not familiar with.
