Frank's Pizza Italian Restaurant & Catering — Restaurant in Lincoln Park

We’ve been coming here for 20+ years. Last night was unacceptable. Everything was rushed and undercooked. Manager and staff were so rude.

No plates were provided. My brother grabbed paper plates. We ate the entire dinner on the 1 paper plate.

It started with the soggy undercooked pizza that we let cool for a while before eating. We couldn’t get the slices on the plate without it folding and falling apart.

When we entered my father went to wash his hands and came out and the pizza was served shortly after. Couldn’t have been in the oven for more than a few minutes after. We were still eating the bread and garlic bread. Which was still good. Fried calamari and the tomato sauce was also avery good still.

Since I never complain we were chalking it up as just a bad night. We were eating the 1st slice when the Calzone came out. Completely undercooked. My father simply asked politely if they could just take it off the bill since we were not eating it. That’s when things went south. We were told it’s the cheese. We’ve worked in restaurants before. We separated the cheese from the dough and it was clearly undercooked and still doughy/watery/clear-colored. There was no need for an argument.

When I mentioned even the pizza was bad and extremely light on the sausage this time, we were lectured for not complaining sooner. Again, we are not confrontation people. Eventually the calzone was removed from the bill. We paid and left.

It was our first night out as a family together. My brother has anxiety. It was a very somber rest of the night. When got there over an hour before closing and the first thing I asked was if we had time to eat and was told we did.

I do not recommend. It’s gone too far down hill. Like the other reviews said much higher prices for less food and bad attitude. Unfortunately I am done with this...

Frustrating to have to leave this review for a restaurant with great food, but this pizza delivery was a real disappointment. I ordered a gluten free 15" pizza and paid an extra $6 for Margherita style. With the delivery fee and tip, this was a $30 pizza ordered through their website. That's really expensive, but I was happy to pay $30 to a local business for the delicious 15" pizza I was expecting. I've loved their food every time I've had it.

I live a mile and a half away, ordered at 3:15 for a promised delivery of 4:06. Had to call at 4:20 because I hadn't heard anything. Got the delivery 20 minutes later than the promised time. Bummer. I had to head into an important meeting. That's why I ordered it so early!

And then I knew something was wrong as soon as I looked down at the box. It was a 12-in box, as pictured. Pretty hard to fit a 15 inch pizza into one of those!

For kicks, I did the math: I paid for 176 square inches of pizza and I received 96 (8x12). That's 55% of what I expected. That's like getting 4 slices of a 15inch pie for $7.50 a piece. Yikes. Bummer. Guess I won't have leftovers after all.

Other restaurants I've ordered from might have called me first and asked, "hey, the pizza I'm actually going to give you is a lot smaller than what you paid for, are you still okay with it?" That's good business. But here I just got a frustrating surprise. It was delicious, 5 stars -- but I only got half, so 3 stars for the food.

Sad because I always love their food -- but this was too disappointing. Be careful when you're ordering on their website. Maybe it's better to just call them instead of...

⚠️BLACK PEOPLE If you are Black and want to be treated with respect as they do the people who look like them DO NOT EAT HERE!! This is my 3rd time patronizing this business & my THIRD time being shown my kind is NOT WELCOME!!! It’s so crazy that we are in the era of Trump & Ice yet these People find a way to exhibit RACISM to Black people as if yall aren’t a target. I guess any proximity to ytness gives people that view not sure but don’t waste your time here.

I ordered wings and left the name Sara which is MY NAME! I was told 20 minutes arrived in 25 minutes and was asked to pay & told 10 more minutes. Mind you upon entry I told them I’m picking up (described the order). I paid & went back to my car to wait the additional time. When I came back in I was told 10 more minutes I then said I called over 40 minutes ago and was told 20 minutes otp …. They magically found the order which had been sitting atop the brick oven since my first walk in….as I walked out the guy then said wait you didn’t pay me MIND YOU I PAID 15 minutes beforehand (I alloted 5mins out of courtesy) The guy who was seated nearby who witnessed me PAY refused to admit he saw me pay when he’d been watching my every step since i entered the establishment… it took for a young kid to ask was my name Sara to get to the bottom of the order mixup moral is they will accuse you of stealing and obviously A black woman could never be named SARA so that order obviously wasn’t for me.. I’m so tired of spending my money places to receive “covert” racism so here’s a warning to anyone who looks...
