Manager at this location has many places where he falls short. I do not know the name of the manager I spoke to. But I have a SEVERE allergy to gluten (celiac disease), when I get any gluten in my food (even a crumb) I have a systemic inflammatory response which is in credibly painful for about 3 weeks (give or take depending on how much gluten is in it). I went to this restaurant tonight which is known to be a place that is safe for allergies. When I ordered my food I specified that I needed gluten free food. Then when the food came I asked if it was gluten free and the food runner said yes. The server (which the manager informed me was 2 days out of training, not her fault) did not ask for allergies and the food runner did not double check the ticket. But I offered the information and double checked to make sure I was okay. After eating two pieces of chicken I was informed that it was in fact not gluten free. The server apologized. The manager was not informed (his words, felt like a lie, but I can’t be sure). The food was not taken off of our bill, but since I was with company I waited until they left to talk to the manager to not make a scene. When I brought up how serious of an issue this was and how it could be life threatening to other people and requested that the server and food runner go through extra training, he kept cutting me off and saying he completely understood the disease and the training was extensive. He said he would talk to the server, but kept going back to “the training is extensive” and then said he wasn’t even her manager for the night. This upset me because I wanted the manager to listen to me and not keep interrupting me and making excuses. He did say that she had just completed training. Being new at a job can be extremely stressful, but if this was a peanut allergy, the consequences could have been deadly for that person. And if the training was so extensive, then it should be fresh in her mind. The manager was just very rude and dismissive and now it makes me question if I should ever come to this location again or even this chain of restaurants if this is how a manager treats a medical issue. I am a nursing student and will likely be out of commission for the next week at least and this is impacting my schooling. If I was pregnant then this could have caused a miscarriage. I don’t feel that this was handled with enough grace or gravity. I do not blame the server or food runner for their shortcomings. Since multiple people were at fault I am 100% in the belief that this was a...
Read moreI’ve been to this location probably 10 times but my last 2 visits were bad. 4/19 noon I come in for lunch. Not realizing my blueberry mojito was no longer on the menu i opt for a regular mojito. Meanwhile our waiter kept apologizing and saying he had never worked at this location before. My wife felt inspired to join me for a drink so we ordered 2. Our drinks were brought out and they were literally straight sour mix not even any mint. I brought this to the waiter’s attention and he said he had strained the mint out and would put some in. I told him don’t bother it won’t change the taste that much. He then offered for his manager to remake the drinks. I accepted but my wife declined and he took both drinks away. The manager made a beautiful and delicious mojito! I caught the manager at the bar and asked if my wife could get a refill on her soda as our server never stopped by. After I was done eating and stacked my plates I left my credit card on the edge of the table. I watched our waiter walk by 4 times and never even acknowledged us. Finally I walked back to the server area where I found the waiter and asked for my bill and paid right their. On my way back to the table I realized we were charged for both mojitos. At that point I was fed up and short on time! So on my $50 bill I tipped $5.23 to leave an even $55. I would of tipped more if it wasn’t for being charged for something we didn’t consume. To me it didn’t seem like it was his first time at this location it seemed like his first day being a waiter. Maybe I will return maybe not. I like blue sushi downtown...
Read moreWent in with my cousin today during happy hour. We originally were planning on going somewhere else but they had closed so we went here instead. We waited around 10 minutes because apparently they were busy even though it wasn’t a full house, that was fine though we didn’t mind. However we quickly realized the service was terrible. The waitress took our orders and then rarely ever came back to check on us. We waited a long time for our food and when it finally came out I was disgusted when I bit down on a piece of sushi to find a hard fish scale still inside. This wasn’t even the worst part. After we payed and were about to leave I brought the fish scale to the front desk and showed them so that they were aware of the situation. The three employees looked at it and one examined it closer to then say, “it’s probably hard rice from the outside of the rice pot.” I was surprised when she said this because my cousin and I are both Asian, we know the difference between RICE and FISH SCALES. I was incredibly insulted that they brushed off the issue but left quietly. Poor service and unclean food has pushed me to leave a bad review. A waitress not checking in on customers? Fine. But not cleaning and cutting raw fish correctly and then making excuses to hide and brush off the mistake? Disgusting. If they had genuinely apologized and acknowledged it I would’ve let it go. Out of all the sushi places I have gone to I would place this as the second...
