Food: average. They give quite a lot of meat in every dish but the taste is average. Grilled meat for vermicelli is quite sweet but they have a nice smoky taste to it. The soup broth is bland, especially the chicken pho. I wouldn't recommend eating pho here, but you should try their clay pot rice or other dishes. The restaurant has vegan options and their salted tofu was nice. We didn't get to try the papaya salad, pennyworth juice, or coconut juice because they were out that day. However, the smoothie was really tasty. I recommend the strawberry over mango if you like sour!
Service: need more training! When our group came in, no one said a thing. They either looked at us or did their own thing. Not even a greeting, ask us how many people or tell us to sit wherever we want. Nothing, so we just stood for a while before going towards a table then an employee came and asked us how many people we have. This gave me a bad impression of the restaurant as the employees are the face of the place, but their service was just not it. However, they did ask us multiple if we need to fill the water, which was nice. When we checked out, one of the employees said "ok" instead of "thank you" when we gave her a tip, and that was weird. Also, the order in which they make the food is messed up because the couple next to us had to wait 45 minutes to get their take out while the other tables, who came in later, got...
Read moreWent in with the mom to try one of our first Viatmese food experiences in the Lincoln Area. We've been spoiled by an very good Viatmesee restaurant before in Minnesota when we lived there and the service was about as expected. Atnosphere was nice. Clean. We ordered to go. And as we got our orders with the Pho soup and I got the noodle bowl, we were suddenly mentioned by an employee that the to go containers were extra?! Whoa, that's crazy. Since when? We were quite appaled for the three- five bucks it came out to (memory is a bit fuzzy) but regardless another charge. So we hope it is really good. We get back home to taste it and on first impression without any additions, eggroll was delicious. Spring roll with the peanut sauce fresh and tasty. But the main courses? They needed a little help to become flavourful. Fresh yes but lacked the flavor. 4 alond based on freshness but a 4 and a half with the sauces. Overall I'm giving it a four because it came out to about the same cost it would've costed me at the other viatmese restaurant I'm familiar with and that was a five all day. Willing to try again but not insistent on coming...
Read morePho was up there with some of the best I've had. Broth was rich but not super salty, very fragrant. I got the thin sliced "steak" (menu item P1), and it was super tender. Didn't love the egg roll. A bit greasy, and the filling was pretty mushy, almost like it was undercooked. Not saying it was, just unappealing texture. Spring rolls were nice and fresh. No pork, just shrimp, noodles, and mint. Dipping sauce was the standard peanut style and it was fine...it's always too sweet for me so I really don't eat it anyway. Daughter's mango smoothie was a hit. I would be surprised if they used fresh mango but it tasted like it. Two young men served us and they were actually pretty great. It was moderately busy but they were on top of things, and very polite. Pho and Grill didn't quite knock our favorite pho place out of the number 1 slot, but...
