Five stars for the food! We were here during Talladega race weekend. The restaurant is clean and inviting although we had no idea it was Louisiana cuisine inspired. Atmosphere very farmhouse inspired so if you don't read the menu beforehand prepare to be shocked it's LA style lol.
We had the boulin links and shrimp rollers as appetizers which were delicious. My husband is from Berlin and was raving about the crispiness and satisfaction of the sausages. The shrimp rollers were hot, unique in taste, and came with a great sauce, as did the boulin.
We ordered fried chicken tenders with a baked potato and broccoli -- chicken nice and hot and crispy, good breading. Potato good, broccoli good.
Also ordered a cheeseburger and a chop steak with the fixings with sides -- green beans fabulous and fries really good.
Only complaint was service was very slow. It was fairly busy but around 5 pm on a Friday and not every table was full. There was no line. Our server, or servers in general, seemed to only come around every 10 minutes or so. It did seem like, they were a little forgetful or that they were overwhelmed.
We were there for 2 full hours, got apps after 45 minutes and entrees about 1.5 hours in. I asked for to go boxes and the check in one swoop when we saw our server again. Getting boxes and check took another 10 minutes. For some this might not matter but for us, we had our 8 month old daughter with us and we didn't expect to wait almost 2 hours from sit-down time for our meals. Our baby was past the stage of bed time so we had to get out of there. I don't know if the wait is always this long. The food was worth it and if the wait wasn't as long or if our daughter had napped earlier it might have changed that aspect for us.
I do think almost an hour into seating for appetizers is beyond reasonable but again, the food was good and it was worth $80 for our apps, dinner and 2 beers. We would come back but I would not expect quick / super...
Read moreThe food is great like always the only problem that I have is the Red beans and rice that they serve always has these terribly terribly over cooked slices of smoked sausage in them. A credit to the place though they do give you a full piece of smoked sausage that has been freshly cooked that's not shriveled up and looks extremely different than the little slices of shriveled up smoked sausage that are actually in the red beans and rice so I guess that's okay if you like picking up little bitty shriveled pieces of smoked sausage out of your food before you eat it because trust me you don't want to try to chew one of these pieces for 30 minutes. Other than that me and my folks give this place a pretty good review we go to it a lot my step dad's favorite is the Cajun chicken alfredo and he loves it and my mother loves the roast beef po-boy she says that it is an extremely good sandwich. Depending on the dish that you order you do get a lot more food than what you can eat so the odds of you asking for a to-go box are pretty high because they give large potions.I mean unless you're buying something that's just extremely expensive anywhere you go the prices are very good. The food is always excellent there just might be some minor mishaps and stuff when they have a full restaurant but everybody understands that with a full restaurant you got a lot of customers that are hard to satisfy and hence chaos can break loose at any moment. But like I said overall Rick's Crossroads Grill is an extremely good restaurant to eat at if you've got the money to pay for it, which the prices are fair but they could use a little work because not all of the food is worth what...
Read moreStopped in to dine like so many times before, tonight only wanted salad and appetizers so proceeded to order 2 Ceasar salads, and 2 orders of popcorn shrimp broiled (not fried) Waitress walked away to put our order in and shortly returned saying they don't broil the shrimp. Which I just came in a little over a week ago and had no issues. When I complained to the Waitress she went back to the kitchen and then returned saying the girl or cook that usually broiled the shrimp was on break..... So I replied I'll wait for the cook that knows how to broil. When our order did arrive to our table the shrimp was broiled but was served in about a 4 to 6 oz. Bowl not like the regular boat bowl that contained about 15 to 20 shrimp like usual. So I told the Waitress since we only got one order of shrimp divided in to 2 small bowls I expected one of the appetizers to be taken off the bill. And stated the cook/owner needed to stop acting like a Democrat.... When I got to the register to pay our bill the so-called owner was waiting . When we started discussing the situation she informed me she would not be adjusting the bill When I got ready to check out . The so-called owner informed me that in the appetizers for shrimp had 14 pcs in an order.
One tiny bowl had 12 pieces of shrimp, the other tiny bowl had 11 pieces
Definition of a Democrat they do not know how to count they do not know how to tell the truth so therefore she had both marks in my book she is definitely a...
