It seems every post about a lobster roll you must have, comes from a shoreline restaurant. But what if you don't live anywhere near the shoreline? Where can you go to get that same experience? I will be exploring that - and here is my first candidate West Shore Seafood 449 Bantam Lake Rd Morris, Ct 860-567-8000 They have been a local favorite since 2007. They are a quintessential roadside stand selling fried seafood and good burgers. They began as a small restaurant and seafood market and added the take out with seating outside. It used to be byob but they recently added a bar for take out customers. Great food here, highly recommend! #morris #ct #connecticut #westshoreseafood #lobsterroll #friedshrimp #summervibes2025 #newengland #newenglandsummer #seafoodlover

We went on the perfect spring day and at an apparently interesting time. They were taking photos for their website and there was a photographer from Litchfield Magazine there at the same time. As our food was coming out of the window a photo was immediately taken of it by one of the staff members (maybe an owner or manager) and then by the Litchfield Magazine person right after. I do have to say, it came out looking really good and photo worthy. Anyway, after all of the hubbub and I was sat down with the food, we were very pleased. My wife got the soft shell crab sandwich special, I got the clam strip platter and we got the calamari to share. I had asked for onion rings to be substituted for the fries in my platter, but I still got the fries and I saw where I was charged for a whole side of onion rings after sitting down and not the up charge as the person at the window had stated it would be. The food was very tasty, but I think the onion rings and calamari could have spent just a little more time in the frier to crisp up a little more. Other than that, we really enjoyed ourselves and would definitely come back.

Been wanting to try this little gem for a while right by Bantam Lake. I had the whole belly clams and my wife had the fried oysters both delicious. The lobster biscuits not something I would rave about but ok. They are always busy so plan on waiting. We got here early with plenty of seating and still had to wait 30 minutes for our food all and all I say it was worth the wait. Keep in mind. They are open seven days a week but they do close from 3 o’clock to 4 o’clock for a break and do not serve during that hour.

We have enjoyed West Shore Seafood immensely since 2012. Last year the soups were anything but satisfying: several times the clam chowder ‘broke’ by the time we got it home (10 min drive) and the seafood soup lacked anything and everything that a fish stew should have – texture & fish pieces – more like it was processed thru a blender. The gazpacho was inconsistent each time.

Today, we were once again disappointed, but this time it was the clam strips and fried oysters. Last year and prior, the clam strips were perfectly cooked - tender, light, crispy, not greasy – delicious. In speaking with the owner over the years she described how she made them and the ingredients she used in the breading. However, the clam strips today were not the same product as used in previous years, a more inferior product and you could visibly see the difference – so not sure if they still are homemade. The clams were very tough and chewy, long flat strips, more breading than clams and lots of little broken pieces in the basket. The cashier told me the clams strips were the fries that came with the clams but the cook corrected her. Geez, know your products! While the cook offered to make me a new batch, I declined as it was clearly not the same product. The clam strips were my go to food! Not anymore. The only saving grace is the...

Great food, good prices, very very nice people. Was just here the other day, 9-1-2023 had tried to get there sooner from last time! Anyone who complains is foolish. We don't live near an ocean and food is very fresh and great. I had oysters and i know it totally is awful to shuck them, but the person who did itwas great! If you are complaining about the wait, COME ON! What time of the season did you go? When all the tourists come out? The ONLY COMPLAINT I have is that fool who puts up foul language signs on the way there and I wish my grandchildren were not subject to that. Not the restaurants fault. Thank goodness, we turn our heads and enjoy the wonderful service and the BEAUTIFUL outdoors, not trashed by other garbage. And the wonderful stop for ice cream at Aruthusa! Another...
