I tried this place on a Saturday for lunch and came back again for dinner. After reading the other reviews, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. For one this place did not seem like a dingy basement to me in fact coming from a restaurant family, I thought the place seemed clean enough to me. For lunch I tried the teriyaki wing’s appetizer with a small garden salad. Both were about average I would say. I’ve had better and worse elsewhere. They did have a Michelob Zero non alcoholic beer which I was pleasantly surprised that I liked. Then I returned for dinner and since I’m doing a non-carb diet, I tried the Salmon teriyaki with mixed veggies and broccoli on the side. Both were some of the best I have had anywhere and I disagree with the review that said salmon was overpriced. It’s 2025 and $21 for the salmon entrée shown in my photo is very reasonable and a beer was like less than $4. The best is the atmosphere on a Saturday night when they have karaoke night. This place fills up with locals who are friendly and happy and I noticed it was LGTBQ friendly which I appreciate how inclusive this town seems. Anyway the first middle aged guy sang Ironic by Ioannis Morissette which got the whole crowd going and singing along. Jolly times here for sure! Came back again on a Sunday for lunch and ordered the garden salad with salmon and it was delicious and was priced lower than the entree so for a large salad with a big piece of salmon it was a bargain...
Read moreI have been to Chip Shots a number of times in the past couple of years since I live nearby. The food is good and the atmosphere used to be generally pleasant and friendly. Recently there have been some of the "usual crowd" that are in there and they are mostly fine, just usual drunk rambunctiousness, which is expected since it's a sports bar. Tonight however, a group of them actively harassed a Marine veteran and yelled him out of the place, threatening him and insulting him in many colorful ways. I'm not sure what started this since we were across the room having dinner, but the entire group of the "usual crowd" was ganging up on him and even looked out the window after he left to make sure he was leaving. I had previously been here for the food and the normally pleasant atmosphere, but if this is the kind of place it is turning into, then I have no intention of returning and I will make sure that nobody that I know will go there either. I know there is a new owner (relatively recently) so I don't know if things have changed with that, but over the past year the entire place has seemed less welcoming in general. It's fine if Chip Shots now wants to become a lower tier grimy sports bar, but from now on, I will not be giving them...
Read moreThis place once had a 5 start rating from me. Previous management did a great job and trusted the great staff to handle their parts properly. Now the latest owner seems to care more about pushing his revenue generators (customers) into purchasing less desirable items on the menu, by (seemly) purposely not restocking fast moving inventory in a reasonable amount of time. Many times I've showed up to find something not available for 2 or even 3 weeks time. It will be around for a couple months and then rinse & repeat. This never happened until new ownership, I've known the staff many years and they know how to stay on top of those things. Beware, the owner doesn't show previous experience in the restaurant business. Has also showed a willingness to shout & yell at customers that have showed "good will" towards the sports bar.
I gave the new management up until December last year. I had hope that he would learn and correct. I'm sorely disappointed to see this place continuously go down hill.
The entire staff disserves so much better. The food is good and would be much better if, you guessed it, management would give the kitchen more say in it.
Until the management gets better, I'll be avoiding Chip...
