We had dinner on the night of 2/23/21. We had asked for a chicken enchilada entre and a california burrito. We additionally asked for a well shot of tequila to start the night.
The waitress had forgot our shot of tequila and we reminded her nearly 10mins later. She brought it out promptly.
We then received our food but noticed the enchilada was cheese only and then uncooked chicken in the burrito. I noticed mine first upon spitting it back up on the plate and asked for a new burrito ( I had maybe 3 total bites.). Shortly after, we observed the enchilada was cheese only. We told the waitress she had requested chicken and the waitress said she heard cheese... Honest mistake, that is fine.
Afterwards, the food was fine but upon receiving the bill, nothing was comp'd. Nothing for raw chicken, a wrong order placed by the waitress or a forgotten shot. I requested something be comp'd for this (even the shot just being free) which required manager intervention. The manager came out and asked if everything was fixed correctly which we advised "yes, it was", but, it is unacceptable for a restaurant to provide the service listed above. We went down the path of covid which had no relevance of uncooked chicken which the manger said he looked at the chicken and said it was cooked. I told him that the chicken was equal to chewing on a rubber balloon and that I was only requesting a simple comp such as the shot and not all the meals, just something to accept the issues we dealt with.
We ended up receiving comps on our check but the point of the story is I have worked in the restaurant business for 10yrs. I have only sent back food on 1 other occasion which was from raw chicken. When I taste raw chicken, I know what it taste like. The manger said he had looked and saw no raw chicken, he said the other things were handled. I had told them that was fine and we would pay the full amount but would never come back.
Understand your customers, not everyone is looking for a free meal. We had offered to pay the full amount but it turned into debates on how things were and weren't. Believe me, I could had cooked the same meal for under $10 rather than spend the $40 tab but we chose to come to your establishment and support you. A bit of dignity goes far.
Ultimately, yes, I will go back. But if I receive the same service from a server or management, that will be...
Read moreWe've been meaning to try this restaurant as it's close to where we live. I placed an online order for my wife and I and we were disappointed for several reasons.
First off, their menu is odd. My wife and I are both fans of good green chili, but virtually none of their entrees have green chili as an option. Online ordering was a little weird as it said "cash only" when I got to the payment section. Also there is literally no way to order chips and salsa, which is a staple for Mexican restaurants. So I called the restaurant to ask about it, and they informed me that I could get chips and salsa if we spend over $35. Even though every other Mexican restaurant either sells them for a minimal amount or just throws them in for free. Very odd. Then when I got to the restaurant to pick up the food, I was informed that you actually have to spend $45 to get chips and salsa. WTH. We're just talking about a couple of bucks here.
I ordered their combination that has a beef and bean burrito, chile relleno and a cheese enchilada. The burrito was pretty decent; I'd give it a B- as there was no spice whatsoever. The chile relleno was doughy and had no heat whatsoever either. And the enchilada was pretty tasteless and covered in tons of coarsely chopped onions. Not a hint of spice in any of it. Overall I'd give this combo a D rating.
My wife ordered steak fajitas. The quantity of meat and condiments was pretty good...but there were NO TORTILLAS. That's like selling a hamburger and forgetting to put a bun on it. Since we didn't want to go all the way back to the restaurant, she just ate it without them.
In an area with at least 10 competing Mexican restaurants, this experience was a non-starter for us. We...
Read moreThis place used to be called La Morena and then for a short while Cielita Lindo. Iv'e been going to those places for years...but no more. The food was average at best, service was disinterested and the manager insists on scrimping on chips and tortillas. I asked my waiter, Xavier, if there were any happy hour margaritas available. He said yes, the house marg was on happy hour; so I ordered a medium size. But when the bill arrived, the marg was full price. It was then and only then that X told me that the medium margs were not on HH, only the small ones. Why didn't he tell me up front? I ordered the carnitas. The small amount of meat was tough and over-cooked to being hard and crispy. Since it was smothered with some kind of sauce, I could not judge the quality of the meat until I tried to chew it. They only supplied two flour tortillas for the whole meal so I needed to ask for more. That is when X told me that if I wanted more, he would have to charge me for a side of tortillas. At that point my disappointment was so high that I asked to talk to the manager about the food and the tortillas. Although I felt my complaints were valid, the manager basically blew me off. Las Potrancas is close by and convenient to my BUT, I WILL NOT BE RETURNING UNTIL I SEE ANOTHER...
