I just spent my first and last few hours at Crazy Dave's Daiquiri Bar And Grill. I'm an apprentice in my local sheet metal worker's union, and must go to apprenticeship class on every other Saturday. I had just gotten out of class for the day on this particular Saturday afternoon in South Louisiana. A few friends from work and I had planned to meet at Crazy Dave's for a few games of pool, and a few drinks. Since my class had ended early i figured I would go there and shoot a few games of pool to get the upper hand on my buddies...and maybe start my weekend a little early, so I arrived at around 1:30 p.m. I was amazed at how great the place was. It was very clean, the jukebox was rocking, the bartender was friendly and attentive, and the pool tables were clean and true. I had found my new favorite bar. I even met the owner Dave. He seemed like a really down to earth, friendly gentleman. A couple hours later my friends began to arrive. By this time I had been there at least 4 hours. We all congregated at the table I had been playing on all afternoon and proceeded to play multiple games of pool, order food and drinks, and enjoy a well deserved weekend off. We even made a few new friends. (Shout out to "Elvis" and all the Justin Adams followers that accompanied him that night, you guys were awesome!) Everything was going great. I had found my new home away from home. I loved this bar. Well...here's were everything comes to a screeching halt. My friend Luke and I were sitting near the pool tables when a young lady who said she was the manager walked up to us. Apparently we did not have the "proper attire" required to remain at the bar. Mind you by this time I had been in this bar at least 6 hours, and had even had a conversation with Dave himself (who even went as far as to commend me on my musical selections on the jukebox). When questioned on what our infraction was as it pertains to the proper attire we were told it was our sleeveless shirts. Mind you our shirts weren't simply regular t-shirts with the sleeves cut out, but tailored sleeveless shirts. There were no obscene slogans, nor tasteless pictures, simply shirts tailor made sleeveless that were suited to the 90+ degree weather we were experiencing at the time. When I asked the young lady were these rules were posted she replied simply that "It's posted that proper attire is required outside on the door." To this I responded "Where is the list of "proper attire" posted?", I was met with a blank stare. At this point in the evening I had spent $60.00 in cash between ordering drinks and playing the jukebox, and also managed to run up a $55.00 bar tab when I ran out of cash. So after spending over $100.00 of my HARD earned money in this establishment, now all of a sudden I'm no longer welcomed? Needless to say I was quite upset. As I was closing out my bar tab the sandwich I had ordered came up from the kitchen. When I said I didn't want it because I was no longer welcomed I was told "We can put it in a to-go box for you." I refused this offer, along with refusing to pay for said sandwich on general principle. After closing out my bar tab, tipping the waitstaff, and commending them on their service up to this point, I left Crazy Dave's with the statement "I will not be back." I'm a union member, and I know many of my union brothers frequent this establishment. I'm now asking that members of Baton Rouge Sheet Metal Workers Local 214 boycott this bar. Apparently the working class isn't welcomed here. By the way Crazy Dave's...you're a sports bar. You're not a high class winery. You're not a fancy restaurant. You serve daquiris and chicken wings. Sleeveless shirts should be the LEAST of your concerns. Dress code should be CLEARLY...
Read moreFirst time I went there, the bartender thought that the conversation with herself and the other bartender was more important than acknowledging me. Brought my wife the second time. The waitress was clueless. It was a struggle explaining what vegetables were, and how you should apply them to a pizza. The pizza was just okay. A little cool in the middle, while the bottom of the crust was a little over cooked. They had the A/C cranked down in anticipation of a big crowed for the Allison Collins band later that evening, but made for a very uncomfortable dinner. Clean, but new so that's expected. I may go back, but 3 times will defiantly be a charm for me. Thumbs down...
Read moreOut of the two hours I was there on Friday, August 15th between 11p-1a getting drinks, I played one silly song on touchtunes and the bartender made a huge deal about it and requested I don't do that again, said I was going to scare off her customers, and said she'd let Pantera slide, but not Diggy Diggy Hole 😂 I guess all 6 grown 40 year old men couldn't handle the intensity of it according to the bartender. 🥺 I won't spend my money there again, I guess I am not considered a paying customer. Enjoy listening to mediocre modern mumble rap and the same 3 Nickelback...
