Lisa Becker Bakery — Restaurant in Logan Township

I decided to stop by and ask this establishment to make a mincemeat pie for Thanksgiving. Now at first I wasn’t sure that this was an actual business establishment or if the sign in the yard was just a gift from family or friends acknowledging the residents cooking skill.

I pass by the place daily for work commute and it is easy to miss. So to make sure it was a bakery I did an online search…..and I’m glad I did!

So, afterwards, I called and stopped by because I had some, months old but still unexpired, jarred mincemeat filling that I purchased locally. And I decided that I wanted an expert to make a pie out of it for this Thanksgiving holiday.

So my order was graciously accepted by this great bakery and in the end I was only charged $10 for the pie. The price was low because I supplied the filling ………..even though I did request they add pecans to the recipe.

The pie went over well at a friend’s during Thanksgiving. And this friend could easily qualify as a professional food critic, having a discriminating palate, unbelievable olfactory senses and extraordinary cooking skill.

The crust was exceptionally well made, the filling did not weaken it and everything was just baked to perfection.

So I have nothing bad to say about this wonderful diamond in the rough of a bakery.

Thus I have a difficult time believing any negative review, perhaps given by unthankful and unsophisticated clientele.

But this Thanksgiving I have nothing but thanks to offer for this great dessert they expertly made for me.

And the deal was so good that I had to spend more than the $10 I was charged. So I spent an extra $8 on a dozen gobs that they made...

Lisa has always done a wonderful job with everything that I've ordered from her - from cakes, to cupcake-cakes, cookies, and sticky buns. You cannot find many bakers in the area anymore that can do cake artwork freehand. Anytime I've needed a special themed cake for my daughters' birthdays or any other occasion, all I've had to do was give her a photo of what I wanted and she's been able to do that. For my husband as a surprise at our rehearsal dinner for our wedding, she fantastically pulled off the New England Patriots logo free hand, having never done it before. When I asked for a Toy Story themed cupcake-cake for my daughter's birthday, all I did was give her a copy of the invitation (that actually had my daughter's photo on it as well) and she made the cake look exactly like the invitation, with my daughter's picture on it and everything -- all free hand! Her banana flavor cake/cupcakes are to die for - by far our favorite. Very moist...

I have gotten Lisa's cakes before and they were fantastic which is why I went with her for my wedding. The decorating of the cakes was perfection. They looked amazing. I ordered 40 vanilla with chocolate frosting and 40 chocolate with vanilla frosting. The feedback was positive, people liked the cakes. We also ordered an 8" round, toasted coconut with vanilla frosting. It looked stunning!! However, it tasted just okay. It was very dry, like crumbly dry. The guests didn't prefer it.
