Well, let me say ... being from upstate NY, pizza here doesn't compare at all. It was tasteless actually. Sauce was bland as well.
We also ordered wings. I think chickens here are young or on a diet. They were extremely small, although the honey garlic sauce (what was left on them) had good flavor. The wings were packed in a bag with other items and were put in sideways, so by the time we walked out and got to the vehicle I was covered in leaked out wing sauce. The place was busy, but come on.... use your head when stuffing the bag.
On to the soggy fries ... just don't order them. No further comment needed here.
The Philly Sub states it comes with provolone, mushrooms, onions and green peppers. (Note.... thats plural) I added/asked for extra cheese, as well as extra meat (which of course is an upcharge) I would hate to see what it would have looked like if I hadn't ordered it with such. Meat was overdone, one THIN layer... I found 1 mushroom and 2 slivers of onion and a few pieces of green peppers across the whole sub which appeared to be possibly on a skinny, 6" roll if it was even that big. For the price I paid, it was NOT worth it!
Come on up to NY.... we will show you how this food should be done.
Very, very disappointed and will not be back to this pizza place. Ever.
Side note: upon writing this it does ask questions afterwards on what I would recommend.... I cannot check off any of the food, but if celery and blue cheese were an option to check, go ahead and order that ... that was worth the...
Read moreWe ordered pizzas off the website. When we arrived, being our first time visiting, we just hopped in line. The line was long, with about 5 families in front of us. We waited 30 minutes in that line. There was only 1 cashier working. She would take an order, and then take a phone order. In between each counter order, she would take a phone order. Each order took about 5 minutes minimum to get completely and correctly. It was a Saturday Night, 4th of July weekend. There was a live band playing outside. You would think a manager would make sure to have a full staff on a night like this in a tourist town during the peak of tourist season. This place appeared to have ZERO management. After 30 mi urea, we were now 2nd in line. A kitchen worker came around the corner and said “Order for Chris,” Chris is my husband; so he said “Oh, that’s us.” We got our pizzas and got them back to our cabin about 5 minutes away. The pizza was average. It wasn’t horrible, but it also wasn’t really good. The crust of the pizza was still doughy as thought it was undercooked. We can now say we have tried Captain Ron’s when we visit Hocking Hills, but it won’t be a place we choose to eat at on our future family trips. I’m not sure who “Captain Ron” is, but if he is the manager, I hope he takes this criticism as constructive, because this place has a LOT of improvement that it could make. It is a business with lots...
Read moreGreat pizza place off 664, not too many options out this way, wanted to try pizza crossing at first but I tried calling for 15m and it was busy the whole time.
Decided to give Captain Ron's a shot and was not disappointed. Great taste, ample toppings, quality ingredients. Price is a little high, but not too bad.
What I really appreciated was the fact that Captain Ron's is following social distancing, requiring masks, and not allowing people inside, they do curbside or outdoor counter pickup.
I got there about 10m after they said my order would be ready, but it wasn't quite done yet. 10m went by and the guy came out and was very apologetic and said they had to cook my wings again. No big deal from my end, he was communicative and let me know what was going on, that's all I can ask for.
I ordered a large pepperoni, onion, sausage, and banana pepper pizza. Unfortunately they forgot the banana peppers, but the pizza was so good it didn't even matter.
My wife got the chicken spinach alfredo pizza and loved it. Then we got the aforementioned wings (honey garlic) and some cheese sticks. Total price came to around $50, which isn't too bad.
All in all we were very pleased and I give Captain Ron's a 4.8 but since google doesn't allow decimal reviews I rounded up to a 5. Will definitely be back if we're near...
