I recently visited the Hocking Hills Inn and Coffee Emporium and had such an unexpectedly amazing experience that I have to leave a detailed review. First, I want to clarify that I did not stay at the Inn, though it was adorable, well-maintained, and full of charm, especially in the fall when I visited. The exterior and patio area were beautifully decorated with fall-themed touches like pumpkins, giving off a cozy and inviting vibe. The patio is dog-friendly, which is perfect for anyone exploring Hocking Hills with their furry friends, though it was raining the day we visited so we took our items to go.
I originally had another coffee shop in mindâOasis Coffee Shop and More, which I had seen on TikTok and Instagramâand wanted to check it out while in the area. However, when I searched âHocking Hills coffeeâ on Google Maps, this coffee shop popped up, and after looking at the photos I thought it might be the same place, or maybe they had updated them. I decided to give it a try, and Iâm so glad I did! Later in the day, I went to the original Oasis Coffee Shop, and my experience there was terribleâpoor customer service, unhelpful staff, and a general lack of knowledge about the menu. I am so grateful I discovered Hocking Hills Coffee Emporium, because it completely saved my day and restored my faith in local coffee shops in the area.
From the moment we walked in, the customer service was phenomenal. Every staff member was upbeat, friendly, and seemed genuinely happy to be working there. They worked seamlessly together and made ordering feel like chatting with a friend rather than a formal transaction. The menu was easy to read and presented clearly, and the selection was extensive, featuring hot beverages, breakfast items, soups, desserts, and locally sourced baked goods. They even had souvenirs, sweatshirts, magnets, and postcards highlighting the beauty of the Hocking Hills area, which added a nice touch to the shopâs cozy and local aesthetic.
I originally planned to order one of the breakfast sandwiches, but when I got to the register, I saw they had chicken noodle soup with homemade breadsticks, which was perfect for the rainy fall day. I also got a maple cinnamon roll and decided to try their sugar cookie hot chocolate, which seemed like a special treat compared to a standard hot chocolate. I tried the hot chocolate first, and honestly, it wasnât greatâit wasnât very hot, and the flavor wasnât as rich as I expected. I was mentally giving them a 3-star rating at that point, thinking that maybe the aesthetic and service couldnât fully make up for it.
Then I tried the cinnamon roll, soup, and breadstick, and wowâeverything else immediately bumped my rating up. The cinnamon roll was perfectly sweet, soft, and flavorful, and the chicken noodle soup was hearty and comfortingâso thick it reminded me of chicken and dumplings. The breadsticks paired perfectly with the soup, and the combination was incredibly satisfying. Honestly, if I could, I would go back and order ten more pounds of that soupâit was that good. The quality of the ingredients and care in preparation were obvious, and it made the visit feel extra special.
The coffee shop itself is cozy, well-maintained, and inviting, with an atmosphere that makes you feel like you could become a regular if you lived nearby. I loved that they had friendly interactions with customers, a well-curated menu, and local baked goods, which made the whole experience memorable. Itâs clear that the Hocking Hills Coffee Emporium is not just a coffee shop, but a community-focused place where customer experience and quality are...
Read moreUpdate: Iâm really disappointed to see this place using deceptive pricing to nickel and dime its customers. First, the restaurant has paper menus on its tables that show pricing that is probably years out of date. They're now charging $2 more for a latte than what is printed on their menus. The digital TV menu has an asterisk that reads âprices change regularlyâ which raises eyebrows to begin with. The specialty lattes are unmarked and ring up at $9 because âall the syrups,â but somehow their signature lattes with syrups are in the $6-7 range. Youâre really adding $2+ more syrup? The hot chocolates are priced $3.75, $4.75, and $5.75 and you would think that would be small, medium, and large. Apparently, according to the barista when I asked why my âkids hot chocolateâ rang up at $3.75 and my âsmall hot chocolatesâ were at $4.75 each, thatâs how youâre supposed to read their menu: kids, small, medium. Yet, somehow our âmediumâ and âlargeâ coffees match the prices in the second and third columns. Oh and we have to add a âdelivery feeâ at the bottom which is âjust our credit card feeâ because somehow the $9 Bigfoot coffee doesnât factor in the cost of a transaction.
2 years ago: This is probably the most thoughtful inn I have ever stayed at. My wife stayed here for our anniversary and it was the perfect place to stay while exploring Hocking Hills. Very nice room, delicious complimentary muffins, and complimentary drip coffee from the awesome Coffee Emporium next door. The staff is also insanely quick to help if you text them with a question. Like we needed help with the WiFi and they were at the door in less than 60 seconds! The innâs location is great too; itâs just a few minutes from a winery and brewery! If we visit Hocking again, we will...
Read moreThe cabin I am staying in has a âguest bookâ that previous guests sign. Thereâs are countless entries about how amazing this place is so I figured Iâd give it a try. I wanted to go on Wednesday but I saw that youâre closed on Wednesdays so we ended up going to The Oasis instead. So I made a trip to finally come try out The Emporium yesterday morning around 9am and I was a bit let down (with the expectations based off the reviews). In general, the Apple fritter (I canât remember exactly which pastry it was) and the coffee wasnât BAD, I just didnât like them. The pastry I ordered in a bit of a hurry because everything else I tried to order was âsold outâ. They had a lot of food sold out which was a huge bummer as it seemed to be everything I came for. My luck. Also, I ate it as soon as I got to my car and it was pretty much cold. Certain parts were hot but majority was cold but itâs an apple pastry, it wasnât nasty because it was cold so I ate it anyways. No biggy. I just wish they had them blueberry muffins I wanted so bad đ I got two of the Stroopwafel hot coffees as the worker said they are the most popular drink. My boyfriend and I just didnât find them to be very flavorful. A bit bitter and the cinnamon just didnât do it for us. Must just not be our cup of coffee. Very quick service though and everyone was...
