I waited an hour for my wife and myself to be seated and promptly a bar server came and asked if we wanted "drinks other than water?" Well we just waited for an hour and we definitely want water was our response and rather than taking a moment she said she would tell our server...ten minutes later a carafe of water was finally brought to our table. Wife ordered a sirloin with shrimp and I got the big ribeye and we both went with medium rare. Presentation was fine, nothing special and was looking at a very thick.....ribeye?? As ribeye guys we look for that beautiful succulent ring of the most tender meat and this steak had none. After tasting it, I was shocked that this beef tasted just like the beef I get at home. This restaurant uses St Helens grain fed beef, Washington beef. I buy it cheap at any store at home. Curious why they don't use local beef and support local farmers. I also smoke meat as a hobby and was a chef. These steaks were rare. When we notified the waitress she looked at us like we don't know what medium rare is. It's 130-140° in the center. It's simple and it doesn't look like jelly so thank you for questioning both of our intelligence. The shrimp was cooked fine but no flavor. Hardly worth the wait or the money for me personally. Sorry for the bad review but first impressions last a lifetime and I've been waiting to stop here for 10 years at minimum. Huge disappointment...
Read moreWhile touring through Montana, we found an opportunity to have a celebratory dinner at Lolo Creek Steakhouse. I had heard positive recommendations from trusted others and with the opportunity at hand, decided to indulge. LCS doesn't accept reservations and we planned to arrive by opening and were promptly seated. This is a very rustic establishment with lots of hewn timber and taxidermied trophies mounted throughout. I was told that LCS served wild caught Walleye and although renowned for their aged beef, I was thinking of nothing other than Walleye. Even checked their menu online to confirm. We were greeted again by a very sweet young lady to order cocktails. When we inquired about a particular custom drink on menu, she very innocently informed that she was 18 and had no idea of its taste. Ordered beer instead. Back to the Walleye; Our server soon arrived to take our dinner orders and I excitedly requested the Walleye, to which she promptly stated that it was only offered on Wednesdays. So, now I'm looking over their steak options as the others are placing their orders. Settled on a Ribeye with no regrets. The others ordered steaks as well and were not disappointed. An abundant amount of food presented, leaving no room left for desserts, which they're also known for. We'll look forward to a future visit to Montana and LCS, and I'll be sure to remember that Wednesday would be my...
Read moreWe had a large group so we had a wait, but that was okay because they took our number and would text us when our table was ready, so some of us went and explored some little shops while the others waited comfortably in the outside waiting area. When we were seated after a short wait, our table was located in the middle of the restaurant and it was like we were in a lodge with vaulted ceilings that were held in place with beautiful timber. The walls and open spaces told a story of all the wildlife that had been found in this beautiful area. The taxidermy made you truly feel like you were in the heart of a wild country. The menu was simple uncluttered giving you a fine choice of choice steaks that are cooked on an open fire grill that lends to the ambiance of this great steakhouse. We started with some appetizers the clams with a garlic butter sauce and their own house made French bread, this was delicious and then some loaded potato skins that were a meal by themselves. I choose the Ribeye medium rear, (cooked to perfection) sweet potato, garden salad with blue cheese and a slice of their house made bread. The meal was perfect I enjoyed everything I had, I believe everyone enjoyed their steaks and those who added the shrimp with heated butter raved also about how wonderful the food was. This place was a true treat before heading home to Atlanta Ga. I definately...
