Kaena at The Ranch — Restaurant in Lompoc

2025.01.19 - Known for Grenache, Kaena delivers wines with a sense of Ohana. There is a pleasant olive grove that was beautiful with wind flowing through the dense cover of leaves. Kevin, a local, seemed to be mingling with all the guests and filled us in on the fun of Mexican Train Dominos (thanks Kevin, we will check it out). According to our host, Kaena is known for its Grenache which is what we tried - the Tierra Alta Grenache which was tasty. In settling on the Grenache, the host allowed us to taste a Malbec which was beautiful and bold with the taste that I look forward to trying next time we are there. Pretty disappointing service considering we were 1 of 3 total tables at the time. It took 50min for me and my wife to split a single tasting. We wanted to try a few wines before setteling on a glass each, but ran out of time with how long it took our server to pour each of the tastings. We felt completely ignored. Met our friend for some wine tasting. Their wines were all VERY good! I'm not a white wine drinker, but everything I tried here was very tasty! I definitely recommend this place, and I can't wait to return! If you're there on a Sunday, ask for Dianna and tell her I sent you! She is very knowledgeable and has a true passion for the wine.
