I really like this locally owned spot and the variety of food they offer. Their fried rice is consistently great, and when the General Tso’s Chicken is done right, it’s fantastic. The food is usually very fresh, which is something I really appreciate.
The atmosphere is another highlight—you can tell they’ve put a lot of effort into making the space inviting. There’s a long family-style table inside, which is great for groups, and a fantastic outdoor seating area that adds to the experience.
The employees are always nice and do their best to be helpful, but service consistency is a bit of a mixed bag. Wait times can be either very fast or surprisingly long, which can be frustrating if you’re in a hurry. Pricing on some items feels a little high, but not enough to make me second-guess eating here.
One thing I do find off-putting is the number of signs scattered around, especially on the large plexiglass barrier at the register. They’ve kept the plexiglass up since COVID, and while I understand wanting to be cautious, it’s the only place in the area—restaurant or otherwise—that still has it. It also makes communication difficult; I had to repeat myself multiple times while ordering because the owner couldn’t hear me, and vice versa. The taped-up signs on it don’t really add to the experience, either.
Some of the signs themselves also feel misplaced. One tells customers to check their to-go orders before leaving, which I personally feel should be the restaurant’s responsibility. Another states that tipping is customary when dining in, which I normally agree with, but this is a counter-service setup where you order and pay at the register before receiving any service. Sometimes they bring food to the table, but beyond that, it’s inconsistent—so tipping in advance feels odd.
Overall, I’d rate this place between a 3 and a 4 out of 5. The food is fresh and tasty, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is well thought out. However, the inconsistency in food prep and wait times, along with some of the communication challenges, bring the...
Read moreFood was delicious!!! Falafel and Banh mi sandwich 👍👍👍👍great beer selection too!!! (Update) . 9/9/18. I had five on here but last time I came here I ordered a chicken entree that said spicy on the menu but it was super duper spicy for a med spicy eater like me. The menu should say very spicy not just "oh it has a lil spicy mayo" And today when I asked about the same chicken entree to see if it was spicy to make sure, the guy at the counter confirmed my suspicion. So I asked about the general Taos this time . The counter guy had no idea. When he looked over at the manager and the manager said "u asking the wrong guy" lol. I ordered it anyway. And the general Taos is really spicy too, not too bad for a normal day for me but this week I been having some stomach problems, so I didn't want to eat anything spicy. Thanks guys. I'm rear is going to be cursing you tomorrow morning when I'm on the toilet. Three stars (Update)9/9/18.(10 mins later...) so I go up to the counter again, this time a young lady helps me. They had forgotten to bring out my crabrangoon. She didn't believe me at first. She had to ask everybody in the building first. I am hipanic ( dark complexion) and coming of the near by beach I look kinda ruff but people shouldn't judge people based on their appearance. (Now one star) Not coming back her again . Too bad cuz they have good beer.. it's just another day as a minority in this white 'merca! God bless.... PS: the minority thing is not really the problem with this world, it's really the really rich 1%ers that keep us all thinking it's one skin color against the othe.. . When in reality it's the poor trying to survive against the...
Read more1st time going here. A friend wnated me to try it. I was expecting something different menu wise but was pleasantly surprised. My friend ordered pork tacos, which looked very good presentation wise. I actually ordered their general taso chicken, with chicken fried rice, typically comes with crab rangoon or egg roll. I mentioned my allergy, they took extra precaution before preparing ny food even though they were busy. They cleaned the things thoroughly before doing my order which is appreciated. Now the food I ordered was very fresh, it tasted different then what you get in a asian reaturaunt, the flavors were full and robust very pleasant. Their version is a bit spicier than what you typically get which I loved, I assume they are using traditional red peppers for the spice versus the norm. I didnt care for the rice only becaise it tasted very organic to me and or the egg qhich i dont care for was the culprit. I will go back and 10/10...
