What an amazing little spot for some dinner before our concert! The view and the weather were incredible and so were the staff! Would highly recommend this restaurant #dinner #view #fall #minnesota

We came here for a date night on a Friday for my husband’s birthday (which they don’t do any dessert or anything for). We originally had a reservation but then cancelled it as we wanted to sit outside & they don’t take reservations for the patio. Unfortunately, we still weren’t able to sit on the patio because of how busy it was, which is understandable given the day/time we went. It was also a very overstimulating environment, but that’s also understandable. We sat inside in the “seat yourself” area. It took 10+ min for any server to see us at our table, but when the server did come he apologized for the wait. The server was quite slow to come back every time, but I think he was new, so I can give him some grace for that! He had a great attitude and we never saw him not smiling 🙂 The tables in the dining area were very close together.. so close that our backs were touching the backs of those at the tables behind us and we had to get up in order for them to get out of their chairs. For drinks — We got the Berry Crush cocktail which was great, not too strong & satisfyingly sweet without being straight sugar. We also had a Hazy IPA which was just what you’d expect for a Hazy. For entrées — We got the Truffle Mushroom Flatbread and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. They were both very, very good 😍🤤 I’d get the Flatbread again and again. It wasn’t too oily and the flatbread itself was nice & crispy without being too hard or soggy. The cheese/mushroom/bread ratios were great. I was able to finish all of about 2 slices on my own. The Fried Chicken Sandwich was also delicious, much better than ones we’ve had at other restaurants. It had a good kick but wasn’t too spicy. The coleslaw was subpar. The fries were also good quality fries. We had the Keylime Cheesecake for dessert which we did not finish 😕 It was VERY tart and very heavy on the lime. It was also more expensive than Redstone’s Keylime Cheesecake, whose portion is MUCH larger & quality/taste is much higher. We would not get this from again. They also have free valet for everyone, which we didn’t know beforehand, but made it kind of confusing. There were also tables around us that had kids who made very large messes on the carpet. Obviously the bussers cleaned the tables once the families left, but they didn’t seem to have any vacuums or brooms to clean the piles of food off the carpet before the next groups were sat.. I would just expect higher quality than that for the prices here.

If you're looking for a perfect spot to soak in a sunset by the lake, Birch on the Lake is the place to be. Located right on the lake, the views are absolutely stunning, especially when you catch a bit of sunset through a gentle rain. It's like nature's own ambiance, and it really sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. The venue itself is spacious and divided into two distinct areas: a brewpub and a restaurant. Both are decorated with a tasteful blend of rustic charm and modern flair, making it a cozy yet stylish spot to enjoy your meal. While their beer menu is somewhat limited, I highly recommend their hefeweizen. It's a standout and worth trying. The rest of the beers might not have been to my taste, but it's always good to experiment. On to the food--this is where Birch on the Lake really shines. We sampled the Mushroom Flatbread, Nashville Hot Wings, and the Lobster Smash Burger. The burger was a revelation: light, flavorful, and practically melted in your mouth. The flatbread was well-seasoned and enjoyable, though it could have used a bit more pizzazz. The wings were a highlight--crispy, hot, and perfectly spiced. The service was impressive, especially considering our bartender was also doubling as our server. Despite the dual role, he was quick, efficient, and friendly. Overall, Birch on the Lake offers a fantastic setting and a solid menu. There's enough variety to entice me to come back and explore more of their offerings. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit!

A one year anniversary is kind of a big deal. So I made a reservation at 7:00pm to be out on the patio. We wanted to enjoy the outdoor weather and to see the sunset. We walked in and was greeted by a young blond girl (super sweet) she saw that I left a note to be out on the patio and told us to go downstairs and that there should be some open tables that are reserved. We followed her directions and went down stairs. There is a sign a the bottom of the stairs that said seat yourself. I was wondering if that was just for the lounge/bar area but we walked through to go outside like we were told. There was a podium like thing but the three young girls that were standing there didn't pay any attention to us so we walked past them to find an open table. To seat yourself like the sign said. We found a perfect table and sat done and not even two seconds after we sat down one of the girls came up to us and really rudely told us that we cant just seat ourselves. I told her that we were told to come down here. She responded says that this table is reserved. I told her that we have a reservation to be down here and she snapped back saying that this isn't our table, like she knew exactly who it was for. I have never ever been treated like that at a restaurant before especially at a fancier one where we are willing to pay and tip well. She caused a huge scene which other people dining listened in as well and other waiters/waitresses who were looking at us like we were peasants or something. I didn't say anything to her after that and we walked out and back upstairs to the first lady we talked to. She greeted us again by saying " you guys decided to eat in here instead?" I told her no that we got kicked out. I was so upset I was on the verge of tears because I wanted this dinner to be perfect. She said she would talk to the manager about it but I don't think that happened, or the manager didn't care enough to hear our side of it. We got shoved into a corner booth and didn't have any good view of the lake or the sunset. Now comes the service...it took forever for every little thing. Took about fine minutes for anyone to talk to us and ask for drinks. Our server an older man who was very sassy told us he'll be back with waters and didn't asked if we wanted anything else to drink. He dropped off our waters and walked away again. We knew what we wanted to eat and drink and even read the other 1 star reviews in the time it took to get my drink. He gave me my drink and then walked away again without letting us order. I had to tell him that we were ready to order and he sassed me a bit, saying "Oh O-KAy" the food didn't take too long to come out and it looked really nice except for my boyfriends fries which were at least two days old and brown and shriveled on the ends. I got the walleye with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The only thing that was good on that plate was the mashed potatoes. The fish was not good and I had to choke it down with cocktail sauce. My boyfriend eats anything so it wasn't an issue for him. I ended up only eating half of my fish and the mashed potatoes. The asparagus was not cooked at all. We tried to make a good time of this experience but I was so upset. I drove a hour and twenty minutes to get there just to be shamed publicly, given awful food, poor service, and an expensive bill. Nearly $80 for two people and one drink besides water. In total we were there for an HOUR and A HALF waiting to get a table, to get a drink, to order our meals, to get the bill, and to get the card back. All just to leave upset and extremely unsatisfied.

So much for celebrating our 365 days together. Thanks guys you'll go down in history for the worst restaurant I've ever been to. Not only in Minnesota but every other state I've been to. Thanks for wasting our money and time, and for making my...

I decided to invite a client of mine and his wife to dinner. Service was awful and there was an overcrowded private party near where we were sitting. It was so packed with the private party we could not even make our way to the restroom. When we got our food it was small portions and expensive for what we got. Their smoked baby back ribs for $28 was a joke. The sides were in a metal nut cup about as large as a table spoon full along with a very small portion of french fries that were cold. Other food at our table was just as unimpressive.

NOW HERE COMES THE GOOD PART!

I have to set this up. I had been there before with the misses and we ordered some beer from The Brewhouse downstairs. I asked the bartender, who later I found out was the owner's girlfriend, if I could sample a couple of beers that they offered. This is standard issue for any bar or especially a Brewhouse and she did give me a couple samples and we ordered some drinks AND tipped very well as we always do.

MY FOLLOW UP AFTER THE BAD DINNER EXPERIENCE.

I stopped in to pick up a growler one day and two women were at the front reception desk. I asked if they would like some feedback on our dining experience. In an unfriendly manner, one woman (owner's girlfriend I found out later) said sure. I started to explain what we experienced and she started to get angry with me. She even brought up the beer samples she had given me a couple weeks before. "You liked the free beer samples didn't you" she said in a rude tone as if that was going to make my bad dinner experience better. The employee standing next her kept quiet. Unbelievable I thought, I was in shock. She was not willing hear me out or even consider me a valuable customer. I tossed my arms in the air in frustration and walked downstairs to get my growler. Recognizing the bartender, I asked who that woman was who was so rude to me. She replied she was the owner's girlfriend. I found out she followed me downstairs and overheard me asking and I paid for The Growler and she proceeded to kick me out of the bar/restaurant. She followed me out the front door and half way across the parking lot with her woman bouncer, the whole time yelling at me to stay the f* away and don't ever come back. She sure got her wish. She was unbelievably rude and it was shocking that I was so mistreated. On the flip side I would suggest to anyone looking for some great ribs and great food all around, to go to the Sunshine Factory in Plymouth. Great customer service, great management, great food, you will...
