The Latest Kraez — Restaurant in Longmeadow

First off, we were helped by the owner and she is an absolute dear. I ordered a variety of items, as I had previously only gotten a cupcake from them before there was a brick and mortar store (which I enjoyed very much). Today we got a nice selection of things to try, a brownie (which my daughter loved), whoopie pie, a cannoli, cookies (a snickerdoodle and a peanut butter) and a few cupcakes (triple chocolate and a cookies and cream variety). The whoopie pie was rich, chocolatey and just as it should be. Very moist! I would perhaps recommend letting it sit to room temp if you prefer the icing to be soft! That's a personal preference. Same with the buttercream on the cupcakes, it's a very dense and rich American buttercream and when cold it's very firm. The cannoli was the best I've had since I have moved here. The shell is delicious, crisp and cooked perfectly. No soggy or half filled pastry here! My one critique would be that it tastes of American cream cheese versus mascarpone, which would be my personal preference. Easily still the best available in this area. My last comment would be for the cookies. The peanut butter was a hands down favorite for me, it was lightly crispy on the outside with just a bit of chew in the middle. Excellent flavor and texture! The snickerdoodle is the only item I would not be back for, as it was perfect on the outside but very soft baked on the inside, which people here may prefer. For me it was far too doughy and undercooked. I did love the seasoning on the outside and the smell! Just not for me. I ordered a cake for my son’s baptism, unfortunately it was green with green leaves instead of white with green leaves- I sent 3 photos via the online form and they only were able to see one photo- sadly I was pretty disappointed, but I understand these things happen. I asked for a refund or a partial refund, as the cake was $100 but instead I was offered a gift card that I would have had to go pick up which would have been inconvenient for me with working as a night shift nurse, on top of having a baby, I wish email or mail was an option but I just said never mind. Sadly the cake was also pretty dry- I ended up scraping the icing off and using Big Y icing to make it look how I wanted. Kinda...

The cupcakes certainly are good as well as most of the other baked goods. The issue with the Latest Kraez is that the selection of foods and baked goods is way too limited. I know the shelf space is limited, but there’s usually nothing new to try. Maybe if they add something like a few really good breads that perhaps could change each week or month, or perhaps a sandwich of the week, or a soup or two in the cold months, might lead to more people coming in on a regular basis.
