So excited to see the sign for Bojangles as I was headed to Dallas last Saturday. I'm from Virginia and my childhood dog was named Bojangles, that's how much we like Bojangles. Generally it was for fried chicken and biscuits on a Sunday, but sometimes my dad would head out of the house before anyone was awake to bring home breakfast biscuits for the family as a surprise.
It was 8am ish, and they were very well staffed (looked like some training going on and now I realize they just opened).
Mo (going by his necklace) took my order - i got the Bacon Egg & Cheese and the Chicken Biscuit + Egg. I also asked for honey and hot sauce on the side. He was very gracious - I have hearing issues and he helped make sure he got my order right without getting frustrated. He also hand delivered my order and confrmed how many condiments I wanted! Very personable.
Now, I meant to save the chicken biscuit for my lunch, but ... that didn't happen. Before getting back on the road, I had to taste it! The biscuit was as I remember from Virginia/NC Bo's... fluffy and light with the slightly salty crunchy exterior. Loved it! The eggs were flavorful and creamy and the chicken crispy and moist, perfectly spiced. So once I had that taster bite, and it was GREAT! I doctored it up my way - drizzles of hot sauce and honey between the egg and chicken, and more honey between the biscuit and chicken for that extra sweetness. FANTASTIC! Because I didn't want to wear it, I wrapped it back up for the road and to save for lunch.
Then I took a bite of the BEC. Also very tasty - the bacon was good quality not super thin like a lot of fast food places, perfectly crispy but not overdone. Eggs same as in the chicken biscuit - but to repeat, they were flavorful and creamy without being underdone and much higher quality than most breakfast fast food (McD's rubber eggs in particular yuck). Anyway, I wish my car stash of condiments had had some grape jelly, that' all it needed for the perfect salty-sweet addition.
That being said, I did end up having the chicken for breakfast and saved the BEC for lunch a couple hours later and it was still delicious. I will stop here again on my next trip to Dallas, probably aim for the way back so it's a late lunch/early dinner option. I did regret not getting an iced tea - for whatever reason I thought their drinks would be from the convenience store fountains not that they had Bojangles Iced Tea behind the counter.
This is smaller outlet, not a stand alone restaurant - so a lot of the reviews down-grade the rating for atmosphere. I'm grateful for what we got! For this location, I was doing what most customers will likely be doing - grabbing to go to get back on the road. So the lack of seating wasn't worrisome.
Anyway - good luck to them as they get up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAt 80 years old, Iāve had my fair share of meals, but my visit to Bojangles was truly memorable.
First, let me tell you about the biscuits. When I took that first bite, it was like a wave of nostalgia hit me. The biscuits were CREAMY, soft, and butteryāmelt-in-your-mouth good. They reminded me of my motherās biscuits, the ones sheād bake every Sunday morning while the smell of fresh coffee filled our house. I could have sworn I felt a tear in my eye. There was something so comforting, so real about those biscuitsāit felt like home.
And then came the fried chickenāoh, the fried chicken. Crispy on the outside, JUICY and tender on the inside. It wasnāt just a meal, it was an experience. Every bite was like a reminder of simpler times, of family gatherings and good conversations over hearty meals.
The sweet teaāwell, that took me right back to those hot summer days, sitting on the porch with my brothers and sisters, laughing as the sun set. For a moment, I felt like a young man again.
But the real emotional moment came after I finished my meal. I noticed a jar of honey on the table and thought Iād drizzle a little on my biscuit. As I tried to twist off the lid, it slipped from my hand and spilled everywhere. I froze for a moment, staring at the mess, almost feeling embarrassed. Faisal, ever the kind soul, rushed over and said with a laugh, āWell, at least itās sweet! Donāt worry, weāve all had our honey disasters here.ā I couldnāt help but laugh through my own embarrassment. I looked at him and said, āGuess I just got a little too excited about dessert!ā He smiled, and in that moment, I felt so at ease, like I was just another person, not some old man fumbling around.
Iāll be back, for sure. And next time, Iāll bring my grandson Aleem with me. Itāll be a day to remember. If youāre looking for Southern comfort food thatāll touch your heart, Bojangles is the place to go. Itās more than just a mealāitās a reminder of the good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreChicken tenders are great. Fries are great as well......whenever you are lucky enough to get them. Been here 5 times total. 2 of those times I was told I couldn't have fries. Makes no sense. First time I settled for the mac n cheese. Soggy. Not my type of mac n cheese. I like to actually be able to "see and feel" the actual noodles. I don't like a pile of mush. 2nd time I was told no fries I just told them I don't want their sides. Just give me the chicken. I'll go home and throw some frozen fries in the oven. So the first time they were actually out of fries. 2nd time just the workers being lazy and or the manager shutting down fryer too early on a busy Friday night. Why shut down the fryer when you got plenty of customers? If it's their policy....maybe they need to change that policy. What I'm getting at here is they always out of something. Another time they were out of my favorite sauce. Menu been saying milkshakes coming soon since they opened months ago. My version of soon is quicker than months away. I think this all boils down to management or lack there of. Once again the chicken taste great, actually probably my favorite tender. Really wish they would step it up so I didn't have to leave their business frustrated...
