33 years of Good Miso Ramen and Great Service-
I traveled to the other side of town and wanted to try out ToriYen Sushi restaurant.
Pulled into the parking lot and they have spaces reserved for customers and also street parking as well.
ToriYen Sushi closes for lunch at 230 and I probably was there maybe an hour before closing.
A gentleman greeted me and sat me right away, I knew what I wanted going in so the service was pretty quick. I was definitely going for the Japanese Miso Chashu Ramen.
The ramen broth was flavorful, it was a miso style broth and came with a side of corn and an egg split in two. The noodles were plenty and pretty standard but the Chasu was very good. There Ramen came with these crunchy fried pork pieces which really added a lot to the flavor and texture of the dish. I kept hunting for them as I devoured my soup.
The gentleman who served me was very kind and entertaining. He joked with some of the other customers and he and I had a nice conversation. Apparently this restaurant has been in business for 33 years.
Its great to have restaurants like ToriYen Sushi around a neighborhood. Its a great break from the bland chain restaurants. Very refreshing service. Next time Ill...
Read moreI have visited ToriYen a few times over the passed couple decades and have noted a few overall trends. 1) the staff is very friendly, welcoming, funny and are truly the soul of this establishment. They make it a point to remember regular visitors and always provide great banter. 2) depending on the hour, your experience will be vastly different. You may have a calm, quiet dinner or you may end up singing with paraphernalia on your face. 3) the food is not very good. Lots of effort are put into the presentation of dishes, but overall the taste and quality of the food itself is just so/so. Overall, it's nice to have a sushi place in such an removed location that provides such a fun time, but if you're looking for truly delicious and authentic Japanese food, don't give ToriYen a...
Read moreWe had reservations for this restaurant, but glad we didn’t have to wait upon entering. Service was prompt and had friendly staff. Made us laugh several times. (The only thing we did not care for was the Philadelphia roll- which I expected to only have avocado, salmon and Philly cream cheese. But interestingly was made different. Also their gyoza was fried instead of steamed). My suggestion is to ask for steam instead of frying. Overall, our experience was good. Highly recommend ordering their yakisoba noodles. *The BEST yakisoba -in comparison to other restaurants. Thanks for having us and hope to someday...
