The menu was more limited than I was looking for. The appetizers we had the 5 Spice Calamari and Vietnamese Spring Rolls. The calamari was subtlety spiced with what seemed like a watered down Hunan sauce that matched well. The squid was tender and was served piping hot. I did not care for the inconsistency of the batter being lumpy or missing. But there was no grease and we really enjoyed the refreshing change with the flavor. However the Spring Rolls we're a huge disappointment. They are huge and look good with the shrimp showing through the rice paper and the peanut sauce sitting there, but 1 bite reveals it's full of shredded lettuce and a couple bean sprouts..that's it. No other spring veggies like carrot for flavor. I've never paid for 2 spring rolls just to taste lettuce. If I hadn't seen the shrimp I wouldn't have tasted it. Our dinners came with a choice of fried or steamed white rice. We had the General Tsao Chicken made with tomato which might be the best I've had, no sweet fried taste. Big chunks of white meat too. We also had the Seafood Delight with lobster, shrimp, scallops and harden veggies in a chefs sauce. The seafood was plentiful for every bite and tender. The veggies we're cooked al dente, but the sauce was a simple white sauce that lacked flavor and did nothing to pull it all together. I didn't finished it. It was a busy Friday night, service was slow and it took awhile for empty appetizer plates to be picked up and no small plates were set to place our appetizers on. I used the saucer from the teacup. The atmosphere is nice and inviting.

Stopped by on a Saturday night on our trip back from Florida. The time was 9:45. It was dark. Weather was cooling and was mid 70s. Upon arriving all staff were occupied by their phones. One lone party of 2 were finishing a meal. We got a delayed greeting. We asked for take out and we're helped out ri pick the spicy dry beef and bang bang shrimp. We paid the $27 for the meal and excused ourselves to the rest rooms. They were clean and neat. Our bladders were full since our last stop was in south Carolina. It was a relief to empty our selves there. Food was ready soon after coming back out front to wait and scroll through face book. We took the meals and headed home for the 30 minute drive. Upon arriving home and emptying the car of our belongings and taking the dogs out to go potty we prepared our meals and looked to cure up a program on tv. We settled on better call saul season 4 episode 3. The wife had given us both a portion of each entree. One had white rice and one had fried rice. Spicy Dried beef was somewhat sweet with barely any discernible spice. Tasty yet needed more spice. Bang bang shrimp were cooked well. The sauce had a bit of spice and was good. Overall it was good quality good and we will fine again and try something else.

Service was excellent and food was good. We tipped our waitress in cash directly understanding sometimes the house has sticky fingers. While eating our dinner we observed a family come into the restaurant whose son was walking barefoot. He climbed onto one of the chairs by front door and we noticed his feet were black from dirt. The hostess then seated the family with the child walking along side his parents and he was still barefoot. We informed our waitress, then hostess of the VA heath code who proceeded to tell us she did not notice the child was barefoot. We were leaving the restaurant when the owner's son ran after us to our car asking if we had a problem with the service. He had noticed we did not leave the tip on the receipt at which point we informed him the waitress received her cash tip directly from us. We told him about the barefooted boy who walk by our table and he claimed the child was carried, which was not accurate. All that was needed for confirmation was to review the CCtv footage. The whole situation was both off-putting and mildly offensive.

Update August 2021

Once again, 4 diners and I did not like my food. I ate it because I was hungry. I have the misfortune of ordering every single meal they drench in hoisin sauce even though I avoid every one listing hoisin sauce in it.

I thought I had finally found it...the Szechuan Crispy Fish. Nope, nowhere near Szechuan...not even in the ballpark of Szechuan, a couple decent pieces of fish just smothered in that awful sweet salty dull hoisin based sauce.

The Tom Yum Soup was almost a joke...but not funny. I have eaten at too many good Chinese and Thai places and that has ruined me for this place which makes food for Americans who dont know any different.

I'll try again since my parents and wife are always happy and thats why I kept my rating at 3 stars. Maybe someday I'll order something that wows me, but I've eaten here at least 6 times and wasn't impressed any of them.

Service was good this time again even though they warned us they only had 2 servers.

Older review: Seems like everyone I know loves this place. For me, it's just "okay". There's almost always something too sweet, too bland or a portion too small for me. No complaints about service.

This is a good place for people who think the average take out Chinese place, those places that seem to always have the same menu...is actual Chinese food. Made in Asia has a diverse menu, but there are only a few items on it I'm excited about and then they usually disappoint me when I order them.

I wish this area would get a real authentic Asian place...Chinese, Thai, Korean...anything real. MIA is a place is for the American palette, nothing too exciting if you have had any authentic Asian food.

All that said, like I said, I'm in the minority of people I know who actually really like this place . I only eat here because those people want to, and the food is...

Every year we order out Chinese as a tradition on Christmas eve. Order was placed and told no meat/shellfish for one of the items as we have an allergy and told 20 min wait. Arrive to pick up my order and another customer had taken the wrong order from pick up (my 95$ order) which was no fault to the restaurant. I was told I'd have to wait an additional 10 min which was no problem. They bring the food back out in less than 10 min. Get home to eat dinner with my family only to find that the dish we had requested no meat/shellfish was made with shellfish. I called to inform them that our order was wrong and that could not be eaten by the person it was ordered for due to the allergy. I was offered "store credit" or to (on Christmas eve) drive back 15 min to have them remake the order. I stated that everyone is trying to eat their dinner and now that is ruined and would take more valuable time away from my family. The manager said well I can refund your whole order but you'll have to bring your card back for us to do that. Which doesn't help the situation at hand. I am so very disappointed in the service we got and the fact that they didn't seem to be bothered that someone I love could have had a severe allergic reaction due to their negligence in preparing the food. We will not be ordering from this establishment again and will be filing a dispute with the bank since they claim they cannot process a refund without the card. 0/10 do...
