14 October 2021 13:08 - a delivery with DoorDash brought me to Destrehan that day. I was so excited to see a Dickey’s BBQ in the area. This was the worst restaurant experience I had in my life. Why was this man lift blocking their parking lot? Customers were confused which direction to go. There is no paper towel dispenser in the Men’s room. There is a roll of PT that falls in the sink. There is poor communication behind the counter. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich w/ CHEESE. I told the second guy what sides I wanted. The carbonated drinks are behind the counter but the tea is out in the lobby (like Cane’s). I wanted an Arnold Palmer like I get at Canes. I had them fill my cup with 1/2 lemonade. Another customer mentioned there was no sweet tea left. So now I asked the cashier to fill up my cup with lemonade. All the while, my tray of food is still sitting in the lineup even though I paid. I had to ask for my food. After I sat down, I realized I never got my cheese and had to go back and they blamed the 2nd guy. I told the first guy what I wanted. There were no condiments out in the lobby except the BBQ sauce but no sauce cups. Then by 13:30, they ran out of food and had to turn customers away. I was appalled. At least they had the free ice cream but it was soft and melting. The pork was good but the corn was not. The employees just seem oblivious how to run a restaurant during the day. Just a horrible experience! They need to take tips from Harahan and Covington locations. They both get an A+ in my book. This experience was an F! I’d rather spend $12 at McDonald’s.

Updated: I went back a few months later expecting the kinks of the service to be worked out. I was mostly right. I ordered online and showed up when they said the order would be ready. They were still out of one of the four things I ordered, and two of the things had to be modified. But they had my order ready other than the thing they were out of when I arrived. They were skimpy on the BBQ sauce this time, but at least I didn't have to recite my order again and wait forever like the first time. The manager also seemed much nicer this time. They're just overworked. Original post: The food is awesome, but I ordered for take out online only to find it when I got there their online ordering system is on the fritz and orders aren't displaying. I should have guessed when I didn't see the order tracker progressing. It took 10 minutes for them to take my order (after they got down some Door dash orders). I waited for 45 minutes after they took the order. It would have been worth the wait, but they served a bunch of other people and ran out of most of what I ordered while I waited. A door dasher told me things are less hectic when the owner is around or during the day. I'd hold off going here until maybe Jan. 2022 when hopefully they'll have all the kinks worked out.

I stopped in to the Dickey’s in Destrehan La. For the first time since they opened. For a Togo order. I’m was not impressed with the quality and taste of the food. I had a backed potato with the pulled pork. The pork was dry and the potatoes were overcooked and hard. My wife had the potato with the chicken on it and it was dried out also and the potatoes were overcooked. Only good thing about my visit was the employees.

FIRST TIME EVER AT THIS LOCATION. I PLACED & PAID FOR MY ORDER ONLINE. WHEN I ARRIVED AT DICKEY’S, THE WHOLE PLACE LOOKED DARK, EMPTY, & THEY HAD ONLY ONE CAR PARKED IN THE WHOLE PARKING LOT. IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS CLOSED. IT WAS WEIRD & GAVE ME WEIRD VIBES. LOL, I STILL PULLED UP TO THE DRIVEWAY & I NOTICED THAT THERE WERE WORKERS INSIDE WORKING IN THE DARK. A YOUNG MAN CAME TO THE WINDOW & MENTIONED THAT THEIR LIGHTS WERE OFF DUE TO THE HEAVY RAIN IN THE AREA. THEN HE PROCEEDED TO SAY THAT THEY ARE ONLY TAKING CASH. I TOLD HIM THAT I HAD ALREADY PLACED & PAID FOR MY ORDER ONLINE. HE SAID HE DIDN’T GET THE ORDER BECAUSE OF THE POWER BEING OUT SO I SHOWED HIM MY ORDER CONFIRMATION. HE TOLD ME THAT IT’LL BE A COUPLE OF MINUTES. I SAID OK THANK YOU. I THEN WAS THINKING HOW WILL THIS BE COOKED OR WARMED WITH NO POWER!? I HAPPEN TO NOTICE THAT THE LIGHTS (POWER) WAS ON IN THE KITCHEN. SO NOW I’M THINKING OK… THERE’S A GENERATOR, COOL! A FEW MINUTES LATER, MY FAMILY ORDER WAS FULFILLED. WHEN WE ARRIVED HOME, EVERYTHING WAS FRESH & HOT! THE BRISKET WAS SOOO TENDER & WELL SEASONED! WE WILL DEFINITELY BE COMING BACK HERE SOON! DESPITE THE POWER BEING OUT THEY HANDLED THIS SITUATION VERY WELL! GREAT JOB YOU GUYS! EVERYTHING...
