El Paso Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Louisiana

Great location and plenty of parking. There are several seating areas, bar, inside, and outside. Morgan was our hostess, and although she was new, she was pretty cool. The Happy Plate is great. Large servings, leftovers highly likely. Their burritos are pretty good. Cold draft beer. They could do a better job of cleaning the dining area, being that we saw 4-5 staffers at the front of the restaurant standing around and talking. That's a reflection of management.

11/23/22: We stopped by for an early dinner, sat at the bar, and Sophia was bartending. She was very friendly and knew her regulars. I had a ice cold draft beer and she had a Margarita. The sampler platter was good, except for the chicken tenders. The salsa that came with the chips was very good. We had a better experience sitting at the bar with Sophia and that other times we had sat in the dining room. Will likely continue to sit at the bar during future visits, and looking forward to Sophia taking care of us. 2023: We usually stop here while visiting Monroe. The food is great and made to order. We enjoy sitting at the bar and Sophia is always welcoming. The atmosphere is great. Sometimes they have live music. If something is not right, the staff is quick to correct it. There are plenty of sitting areas inside, and they have a large outdoor patio. 6/20/24: Stopped by for dinner with family, and unfortunately didn't sit at the bar. We sat at a table, and Carmelo was our server. It started off bad when he knocked the salsa bottle on the table, spilling it on a couple sitting across from us at the table. He had a hard time taking our order and getting the drinks correct. The food was good, but his service was terrible. We had to get the tab corrected, because it had drinks that we didn't have. I'm glad that this wasn't our first visit, because it probably would've been our last. Next time, we will definitely sit at the bar, especially if Sophia is working. 6/23/24: We stopped by and sat at the bar. Sophia wasn't working and of all people, Carmelo was at the bar. We almost left due to our most recent experience with him on 6/20/24. We decided to stay because the food is good. Even placing the order with him at the bar was painful. Bad service 5/7/21- 3:00PM check # 82- Table 12 server Lupita Maybe 3 other customers - at one time it was just our table of 2. Waitress walked around singing out loud - with music -(off key while waiting for our meal ) I usually DO NOT gripe- today was awful -First when she brought our drinks - the tea was colored water - no tea taste at all . I replaced it with coke - which was ok . Placed order - which mine was chimachangha - ( dinner size) with fajita chicken and vegetables - She understood - the vegetables- by asking peppers and onions — She brought the meal and was never seen again — I dropped my fork and had to get up and get replacement- at time I seen her sitting At front table by left of door - I motioned for her to come to table - which she never did - The big problem is : The chimachangha - had no vegetables - the meat was tiny cubed whatever - I picked around in it - not eating - did eat the lettuce the salad and a few bites of beans and rice waiting for her to return . Finally she returned - I told her situation - she offered to go get vegetables - - I said No - she had my plate in her hands when asking if she could get me the vegetables ,after I said No - she said -“I will take it off “, and away she walked with my meal -. I thought she meant take off the meal . She returned with ticket - the ticket had the meal included - I showed to her stating they didn’t take the meal off - she said , it was just the vegetables took off . I said - she had stated other -. She then said I will ask manager - which as she was walking away was gesturing with her head . She returned and said, the manager would allow 10% off ticket - I was appalled -.My husband and I eat here often - I have even held group gatherings here but after this experience ..... Hello all. My family and I (party of about 40) went here for a birthday dinner for one or our Military retirees. We had one server. He did not want to serve us. He may have returned twice for drink refill. But we didnt mind that. We had a big group. Here is where the problem came in. He issued our tickets and never returned. This place usually have you pay at the table. Well people had other engagements...so they paid at the bar and some on the way out the door. Those of us who could wait waited and he never returned. As a group we walked to the front so we could pay for our food. Tell me why these people tried to charge one ticket twice...made one guest pay for another parties food and called the law when we told them they were charging us for the people who had already paid. It's so hard being black in America that even the people of Hispanic decent see us as thugs...scam artist and not good people. After waiting 30 minutes we called the police ourself to see what the hold up was. It took the law enforcement officers to tell us to disregard the additional charges. All they had to do was rewind their video camera footage and take a second look. Instead they treated us like we a group of 40 African American people would dine and dash. This is how innocent people get hurt because we all know the law would be on the side of the establishment. We waited because no one was trying to cheat these people. We waited because we are honest people. We waited because how dare they treat us like this. Now...they apologized and gave the one guy a $50 gift card...as if anyone of us would want to frequent them again. I left this long review because people need to know that African American parties/groups are not welcomed at these establishments. I wish they would just put up a sign saying we aren't welcome so everyone would know where to leave their dollars. Way to ruin someone's...
