My family and I have given this place SO many chances. Each time we've been extremely let down by the food, workers and overall establishment. We were once so excited to have a new mexican restaurant on the way home but unfortunately our view quickly changed.
One visit was with my 2 daughters 10 & 6 years old. It was before the dinner rush and we were quickly seated with no one else in the restaurant. My daughters went to the restroom and I hear a LOUD bang like dishes breaking. Didn't think anything of it and thought it came from the kitchen since no one came from the back to check to see if it came from the front. Well a few seconds later my kids coming running out the bathroom hysterical crying saying the sink fell. I ran in there and sure enough the ENTIRE porcelain sink fell to the ground as my daughter(who weighs 42 pounds) was reaching for the soap, water was spraying everywhere, it was crazy. Thank god they weren't hurt. I had to go in the back kitchen to get someone to let them know. Our waiter who I believe is the manager/owner never once asked if they were okay or checked on them. He's lucky we didn't sue them for having an improperly installed sink. Porcelain is really dangerous and can cut really deep so it's a blessing they weren't hurt. Freak incident but it was never properly acknowledged by the manager or anyone on staff that day. That should have been the first sign to never go back.
Again we still tried again with my sister and her kids because again it literally on our way home and super convenient. Walked in the restaurant, was seated quickly but the restaurant just smelled like old oil. I'm not being dramatic, but we just knew it wasn't going to be good. We still sat and gave it benefit of the doubt. Waitress brought chips out and my daughter gagged and said it tasted disgusting. Sure enough it tasted like old oil. We cancelled our drinks and left.
Now we waited months for our last trip here. We needed something quick and easy for dinner so my husband ordered our food on the website so he can grab it on his way home. He gets home and every single item in the order is wrong and we were missing our side of rice, which might I add was $6.99!! Absolutely ridiculous. He calls and asks for a refund and they said they can't do a refund since we ordered through the "app", which apparently is their own website, but they would remake the order for us next time we came in. Like what?! Absolutely not, he told them I would pick up the cash refund on my way home since they couldn't refund our card. They said okay, on my way to the restaurant I got a call and the waitress asked if I was coming to get the food they remade because they were about to close and the food has been there for a while. I explained that I wasn't coming to get food but instead the cash refund, she said she can't do that but put her manager on the phone. Manager says they can't refund the card OR give a cash refund because I ordered through the "app" and they don't get the money right away and even then they only receive $50 of the $72 order I placed so I wouldn't get all the money. Makes zero sense. So I have to now call the company they use for online orders and get them to refund me my money because THEY got my ENTIRE order wrong. Not ever did they apologize or try to make it right. We had somewhere to be so we couldn't wait for another order to be done and drive back to get it. And I surely wasn't coming back another day to get the food. We couldn't eat the food we had because the nachos were soggy after they put all the toppings on them when the request was on the side, the fajitas came with flour tortillas and not corn like requested(my husband has celiacs and can't have flour tortillas) and my daughters rice wasn't in the bag! None us ate before our event like planned.
I'll never recommend or be at this restaurant ever again. It's so disappointing when you spend so much money on food to get terrible service with it. After so many chances we are done and will wait for the next restaurant to take its place...
Read moreAfter passing The La Dona Restaurant many times we decided to stop and dine in for dinner one night . After waiting 15 minutes to be greeted we were finally seated , it took an additional 10 minutes to get a menu and asked if we wanted something to drink … of course we ordered a beer and a strawberry margarita (don’t order … it was a margarita with strawberry syrup poured around the glass) … we then placed our order mind you it was the so called owner who was waiting on us … we placed our order , we sat drank our drinks ( there was only three tables other than us wit customers) kids were running all over the restaurant screaming and playing…. No structured guidance at all . Another 15-20 passed we asked a different waitress if she could check on our meal … she sends the owner over to us ( whom too and so called placed our order over … he states he will check on our order comes back over it’s almost ready . Ten more minutes pass by then bring us out our meal … it was ice cold the cheese on my quesadilla had already firmed up, became very hard , the steak enchilada was ice cold full of gristle served without the cheese topping ( it looked as though it was food squeezed out of a farmer’s dog pouch ) we spoke to the manager he was ruthless and indignant. Threatened us with calling the police . Will not recommend eating...
Read moreCute little restaurant, servers are nice. Queso and salsa are very good Chicken is also good.
Now to the reason for the one star. :
What I ordered was birria tacos.
I was served floppy corn tortillas with barbeque pork using sweet baby Ray's of all things.. Overly sweet and tangy, smelling like vinegar. Overcooked to a mush. I legit almost puked from even smelling them, and I immediately regretted taking a bite. I took them to go, and threw them away because I didn't want the awkwardness of explaining to the server that my entree was comparable to cat food. Great people, great atmosphere, just don't get the birria taco.
