Philay's Catfish & More — Restaurant in Louisiana

Went to Phillays yesterday for lunch, ordinarily the food is great! Ordered boudin balls as an appetizer with the meal. When I bit into the deep fried boudin ball, it was a horrible spoiled, sour taste. When we stopped the waitress to tell her that the food was spoiled, she said, "I asked if everything was good (referring to a few minutes earlier, and with an attitude)." Later she came around and said, "we'll take it off your bill." We calmly paid the bill and left. Later I thought about it... First of all, How do you cook rotten seafood boudin balls and not smell the horrific sour smell??? And then serve it to us like we wouldn't notice???!!! I was seated in view of the kitchen. Even after we notified them of the incident, the deep fryer oil was not changed and other orders were cooked in the same oil like nothing happened. 4 Nov talked to the owner Casey, he said he was there cooking yesterday when it happened, but was too busy to talk to us. They had sent the waitress to tell us they would take the appetizer off of our bill. No apologies. And, he had the audacity to blame me for taking a bite of the spoiled boudin balls they served. True, I should've talked to him before this post. But hanging up on me was rude and...

We had our office Christmas party at Philay's last night, and everything was AMAZING! The food was great, as always, and the service was impeccable! We had a party of 22 and everything was perfect! There were no complaints from any of us. The waitress (I, unfortunately, forgot to get her name) got everything right the first time - not one mistake was made with any drink, appetizer, or entree, which was VERY impressive!! She was very patient, and everything was handled in a timely manner. We never had to wait on anything the whole night! The cooks did an excellent job as well - everything tasted great and was cooked perfectly. The owner even came out to personally check on us and make sure everything was good and that we were taken care of. I can't sing their praises enough, and we will definitely be back, as we have so many times over the past 10 years. Love this place! From one family-owned business to another - thank you so much Philay's and staff for making our evening perfect!

In the past we have ordered a family size meal that we have picked up and brought home to eat. It has always been delicious and well seasoned.

We ordered the Seafood Queso today at lunch. It was very good.

We dined in today for lunch and ordered The Big Easy. Someone is not checking for quality control because the food was highly over salted to the point of almost being inedible.

The Big Easy came with a salad and soup. Both of those were delicious.

The food was served warm and we didn’t have to wait long. I just hope that they give more attention to the amount of salt that they use to season the food.

The restaurant appears to be clean and all of the staff members were very nice and efficient.

I’m not giving up on them yet but I hope that they do address the salt issue.
