The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is do to the waitress and that poboy period ,! She was sweet, kind and very attentive her attitude was so welcoming now on the other hand the "Owner" was not so friendly🤔 crazy right, !? yeah so my husband and I was referred to this place for char broiled oysters , When we walked in the host welcomed us told about the specials an then seated us. Nice young lady comes OVER beautiful smile and took our order after I asked about a few recommendations on the oysyers my husband ordered a large half shrimp/oyster poboy which was awesome the oysters umm not so dry over cooked just not tasty . Order a magrittia it taste like lime juice so I ordered a shot of tequila it was more like a splash !!!, still I'm good because the waitress was so kind Okey let's get back to the owner, okey at the front entrance there are little slips of paper with different specials and I was unsure of what I really wanted to eat I had already put in my dozen of oysters but me I love to eat I eat out 2-3 times a week at diffrent restaurants so I got up from my seat and walked towards the slips so I could choose my dinner on my way i spoke to a gentleman at the counter "Hi how are you ?" I got no response so I thought maybe he had not heard me so I spoke once more "Hi how are you ? " he's response was "NotGood!!!!" my response was" awhhh I'm sorry to hear that I hope it gets better !"I walked on towards the slips to choose my dinner walked back to my seat which was right next to the counter as I passed I asked they guy that's not having a good day are you the manger ? he says No!I'm the owner I was taken aback because you are the owner omg? Really are owner's suppose to tell there customers their not having a good day !? So as I sat down he kinda leaned over and makes this statement that took the 🎂per the Owner"If people come to work and not live off the state I would be having a good day " I looked and responded "well not all people live off the state " he replied "yeah but most do that's why they don't want to work because the state pay them to stay at home " my relpy was nothing I cut the conversation off because it seemed as if I was talking to someone that should know better to speak to his patrons in such away . His entire persona was of great distress and not becoming at all so I turned back to my husband who had over heard the conversation he said baby that's the customer service in you with a,smile I said you know it ! Because I expect excellent customer service exspecially from the owner of a business. I'm a 15 year vet in customer service I work for the City Of Jackson I come in contact with 100's of people daily an I would never have such a conversation with them about personal issue within my job or business so for this Pier 51 you get 3 star's fairly only because of the customer service I received from the waitress and my husband did enjoy his poboy I wanted to order dinner but the Owner tured my apittite and we left paying 60 plus dollars for his attitude!!! And if you where my boss Mr. Owner of Pier51 I wouldn't come to work because you are not the type of boss owner nor manger I would want to learn from...I hope you get the message Sincerely UNHAPPY CUSTOMER P.S YOU WAIT STSFF US WAY MORE BECIMUNV TJSN YOU ARE MR. OWNER !!!...
Read more[9/30/2020 @ 6:30pm] My awesome hubby took me out to Pier 51 for our 14th wedding Anniversary. I had been craving raw oysters for weeks, and theirs were perfect, especially for this early in the season. I also had a cup of their crawfish etouffeè and hush puppies. Everything was great. Food was hot, fresh and flavorful..... without being wayyyy too spicy. Our waitress/server was excellent as well. She was extra sweet, polite, thoughtful and friendly. She was blonde, young & relatively new there, but for being just a few weeks in, she was fantastic. I feel bad that I don’t remember her actual name, but we’ve gone many times through the years and we have never had a bad experience. Our server was even nice enough to take our picture. My hubby had the SoftShell Crab plate and we ordered 2 to go plates for our kids: baked pork chops with coleslaw & veggies, also the fried fish plate, both enjoyed thoroughly! When you go, don’t forget dessert!!! Even if you don’t have room while dining, take it home, you’ll be happy you did. We got the delicious bread pudding with a great sauce and pineapples and cherries and the 1/4 pecan pie. Their frozen White Russian is super creamy and blended perfectly. Thanks for a great night, Pier 51, you...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped by to try this place out for the first time today and we had the worst experience imaginable. Firstly let me start out by saying our server Ms. Debra was a sweetheart and very helpful but the food was cooked so hard until we could not eat it. We asked for it to be remade politely but the Owner of the establishment told us that he would remake only the chicken because it was indeed burnt and they tried to hide it under the Alfredo. We then asked the server if we could just take if off the ticket bc the other food would be cold while waiting on him to remake just the Chicken, she went in the back to ask the owner and we could hear him fussing at that poor lady as if she was his child only because she asked for us. He said "They can do what ever they want with the food but they will still have to pay for it!" I was floored because of the complete and utter rudeness and disrespect that he had towards his employees and customers. He was yelling at her so loud that others took notice. I was so disgusting by him at that point until we just paid and left that sorry establishment. I'm putting this out to save others from wasting time and money with...
