Fantastic seafood restaurant! As a visitor from Massachusetts to the New Orleans area, I was hoping to find authentic, local food that reflected the rich history of Louisiana. New Orleans itself, and even the French Quarter, were disappointing, catering to tourists. My son tried an 'alligator sausage' at one establishment. He immediately questioned its authenticity and when we asked, they admitted that it contained pork - it was just a sausage. We drove a bit outside town, to Chalmette, and saw a number of cars parked outside a tiny roadside restaurant, the sort you see in old photos.
The employees were so friendly and knowledgeable. They saw we did not know all the items on the menu and patiently explained what each dish was. We tried the fish gumbo, the jambalaya, the crayfish fettuccini and the crab etouffee. Each dish was more delicious than the one before and it was very reasonably priced.
By the time we finished we felt that we had been shown a part of American life that seems almost to have disappeared: regional specialties made with local bounty from recipes handed down through generations.

Read moreI found this place earlier this year when I came down to attend the Crawfish Festival. I met Ms. Barbara, a young 79 year young lady, who greeted customers and took phone orders. She was such a treat. So, being back, I wanted to go visit. Well, when I got there, I was told Ms. Barbara had a birthday, turned 80 years young, and retired. So it left me happy, but also sad that I didn't get to say hi on this visit. That was shared to give you an idea of the atmosphere. It is friendly, warm, and inviting. The food has always been good. Everything is served fresh and hot. I had a small bowl of gumbo, $7 (+) tax. Remember, I was just going to see Ms. Barbara. But it was seasoned well, great roux and filled with shrimp and sausage, and I think I even saw some crawfish. Now they serve sandwiches, po boys and plates. You can get seafood and sausage, and of course, boudin. And the small was filling. Someone at a nearby table ordered a large bowl and got a...
Read moreI was at Walmart in Chalmette a few days ago, just after the arctic blast rolled through the area. I wanted to make some shrimp tacos. I called Today’s Ketch and inquired about the availability of shrimp. The nice young lady on the phone said that they had no shrimp. I was a little bummed but no big deal I’ll make something else. About 10 to 15 minutes later, I got a call from Today’s Ketch, Dawn was on the other end explaining that the truck just arrived, and now they had shrimp!!!! I’m from northwest Indiana, about 60 miles east of Chicago. I spend the winter down here. No one from up where I live would ever call you back like Dawn!!! I’m so impressed with Today’s Ketch that I had to post a review. The employees that work there are so polite and courteous when you arrive!! They run around like chickens with their heads cut off, but are always so nice and friendly!!!! God bless you and just for the owners information, you all deserve a...
