Derby City Pizza — Restaurant in Louisville

Oh...where to start... First kinda dirty with plenty of employees to ignore you. One of the only ones who seemed to actually work was wearing a tank top. To serve food. I could have overlooked it in the summer but it was February. We ordered just a cheese pizza extra sauce. It was only slightly thicker than a sheet of paper, overcooked, and couldn't even taste the sauce. I hadn't eaten all day so I was able to choke down a surprising amount considering it tasted like cheese flavored cardboard. It was horrible. We decided the cheapest frozen pizza from the cheapest grocery would probably be better. In the servers defense...she did check back with us but we just wanted to suffer through it and leave. Oh but the icing on the cake- apparently our server just left. We had to flag someone down for a box (the dog will eat anything) and asked for a check. She told no one. Very poor service. I’ve given years of service to the UoL location and wanted to support local business out in Valley Station. I ordered online and showed up right on time for the order. I spoke to an older woman with glasses at the counter and she told me it wasn’t ready yet and she’d call my name when it was. I waited around for 30 minutes and heard nothing so I went and asked another woman to check and see if my order was done. She pulled out a box that had been sitting there for a while.

I asked how long it had been there and they said over 20 minutes. The manager asked if I had talked to anyone and I said I’d spoken with the lady with glasses. All he said was he could reheat it if I wanted; I said I had somewhere to be and I wasn’t happy. All he said was he would speak to the woman. No consolation whatsoever, not even an apology. I can’t say enough good things about my recent visit to Derby City Pizza! The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. The crust was perfectly crispy, the sauce had just the right tang, and the toppings were generous and high-quality. It’s clear they take pride in every pizza they serve.

What really made the experience stand out, though, was the exceptional service. Our server was friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our meal special. They checked in at just the right times and made sure we had everything we needed. It’s rare to find that level of care and professionalism these days, and it made our visit so much more enjoyable.
