Soulful Choices — Restaurant in Louisville

I went here after seeing a couple of promising Youtube reviews and amazing pictures. Unfortunately, the food was gross.

The mac and cheese was dry, and had some sort of funky cheese mixed in, giving it an unpleasant taste. The mashed potatoes were like the kind you get in school, (although I do like those potatoes) I would expect more from an actual restaurant. Absolutely no seasoning in the potatoes themselves, but the gravy was alright. The fish was okay, but didn’t have enough flavor outside of being very salty. Tatar sauce was clearly Kraft (or whatever generic bottled sauce) and whatever hot sauce brand used (little packets) was honestly despicable and probably one of the worst aspects of the entire meal. I liked the cornbread muffin, but that’s not enough to make up for the meal. They were out of every single dessert except the chocolate cake which didn’t look very appetizing. I will say, everything came out hot which I appreciate, and the service was great.

Ultimately I am extremely disappointed. I don’t feel like I got the same quality food as what I see in other pictures from this restaurant or from reviews. I ate a little of each item and threw the rest away, none of it being good enough to want to salvage. Not sure if there’s been some staff changes, quality cutbacks, or just a bad day, but I won’t be returning...

Ordered a catfish dinner to go, after standing in the lobby for 25 minutes waiting on my food I was informed that they didn't have the slaw I ordered with my dinner. I was already frustrated because I had been standing so long waiting on my food so I requested my money back. I was then asked if I wanted a substitute at first I said no because I felt like I should have been told sooner that they didn't have everything I ordered, but since I had been waiting for so long I said yes and asked for Mac and cheese. They were out of that and then I said give me green beans, they didn't have that either. The only other side that was on the menu was mashed potatoes, I had already ordered fries so there wasn't any other side on the menu so I wanted my money back. It took me all of twenty minutes to get that back because the two teen girls didn't know how to do a refund so they called the owner who supposedly was at home and I had to wait for her to come and do a refund. The owner had the nerves to have an attitude with me because I asked for my money back and then had the nerves to tell me that she doesn't do bad business Well if she considers what happened good business. Then she'll never have a problem with me patronizing her establishment again. So beware of you go to this place expect to wait at least 25 minutes...

The gravy was the only good thing and the cashier. The cook is rude and nasty bc I want my son gravy on side bc he may take sugar on his rice instead. she told me next time it would be a charge she couldn’t even look me in the face and say it pleasantly. She shuffled round with an attitude like she was being inconvenience when I said this at the start of my order, granted she didn’t ring me up but she stated this after I realized they didn’t put the gravy in the bag. The fries was terrible and cooked in old grease and the pork chops had NO BREADING on them! They was like how yt ppl fry breakfast chops. They had so many items not on the menu, banana pudding, big red cake, fried corn on the Cobb so why they was even listed idk. The Mac and cheese was flavorless as others said. You have to watch the folks cooking you eat behind bc if they spirit is bad and off then they don’t care about the food they making you. I wouldn’t come back and eat again. She don’t appreciate the money you spending and I was ready to buy all the items I listed but, she was stuck on being funky about some gravy on the side and baby we can all make gravy and pork chops so stop the shenanigans, ma’am thankfully my son chop look better, I guess she let the batter rest on it...
