Honest review. My family and I love this place. We order from here at least once a month. We've dined in, gotten carry out, and ordered delivery, We've never had any issues with service or timeliness. When dining in, the food can take some time to come out, but that's only because the food here is "homemade" and, as far as I know, the owner does all the cooking.
With that in mind, there is slight variation in the dishes from time to time, just because they're not pre-made. It's clear that each dish is made per-order.
Dishes we've tried...
APPETIZERS: Kanom Jeebs (hand-made, delicious, but have been inconsistent), Crab wonton (best we've ever had), Spring Rolls, Chicken Potstickers, Thai Tacos (must try!)
ENTREES: Drunken Noodles (authentic perfection - if you don't like to spicy food, stick to mild), Sweet Daughter Fried Rice (unexpectedly good), Pad Woon Sen, Shrimp Pad Cha, Panang Curry, Yellow Curry
The only thing that throws me off a little is the inconsistency in the curry and that's only because I love it so much. It's my go-to here, and I have yet to give up on it, lol. Things to note:
Very few veggies come in the standard serving...almost shockingly few, so I always pay for "extra"; protein add-ons have been sufficient.
Thickness in curry sauce is inconsistent (I prefer a thick/creamy consistency), but it can be a little loose/watery sometimes; pouring it over the rice adds a bit of the creaminess back into it and makes the consistency less noticeable.
I ran into similar issues when I ordered the Shrimp Pad Cha (very few veg), and also was disappointed that the shrimp didn't come with the heads on, as described on the menu. But, it was still delicious.
Again, these aren't things that have kept me from coming back because the food is just that good. If you're looking for a delicious, home-cooked meal that you don't have to make yourself, this is the spot :)...
Read moreDissatisfied. Ordered 3 pho dishes for delivery (one speciality with tofu/vegetables instead of beef). Ordered online but when notified 90+ minute delivery, we immediately called and agreed to pick- up (we were splurging on delivery after a long work day. The food was was ready in 30 minutes). Unfortunately, we already paid the delivery charge ($4) and a delivery tip ($10), which was not refunded. The restaurant was “out of basil” and when I returned home with the pho, we discovered there were no containers of sriracha sauce (historically included) and the tofu/vegetable order (for which we paid extra $2) contained no tofu.
Those are the facts.
Subjectively, I’ve watched the food quality and service decline over the past couple of years. It saddens me more than irritates me. Hope things improve, but until they do, we can no longer be counted as customers. Time to find Thai food from somewhere else.
Note: second star is for the nostalgia of the great food we had years ago when we first started frequenting, but has been...
Read moreI stayed in Lovettsville for a week this past week and was craving some Thai food. After doing a quick Google search, I found this place and decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. The building is a small, old house that has been converted into a restaurant, giving it a cozy, warm feel. The two people working in the front of the house were young, probably aged 10 and 14. They did a pretty decent job overall, considering their ages; I had no real complaints.
I ordered the bacon-wrapped shrimp as an appetizer and the beef pad see ew with extra beef as my entrée. The shrimp were grilled perfectly, and the bacon was flavorful and juicy. The beef pad see ew was delicious and packed with flavor. The only downside was that I requested a hot spice level, but there wasn't much heat to speak of. However, that wasn't a huge deal for me, given how flavorful the dish was on its own.
Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely...
