Benaiah's Wood Fired Kitchen is a true gem in Harrisburg, offering an unparalleled dining experience that rivals even the finest restaurants in New York City. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were captivated by the meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of the dining experience. For an appetizer we tried the fried green tomatoes with fresh burrata cheese, smoked tomato jam, crispy prosciutto, salsa verda, and a duck fat focaccia were an absolute delight. The flavors were perfectly balanced, with the smoky tangy tomatoes complementing the creamy burrata and the crispy prosciutto adding a delightful texture. The smoked tomato jam and salsa verda provided a delicious contrast, while the duck fat focaccia was a heavenly accompaniment. The house salad was a work of art, with each shredded ingredient carefully selected and arranged to create a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. The freshness of the greens was evident, and the dressing perfectly complemented the salad without overpowering it. The wood grilled ribeye with moody blue compound butter, cremini mushroom, crispy fingerling potatoes, and grilled broccolini was a true masterpiece. The steak was cooked to perfection, with a delightful char on the outside and a tender, juicy interior. The moody blue compound butter added a delicious richness, while the cremini mushrooms and crispy fingerling potatoes provided a satisfying texture. The grilled broccolini was a perfect accompaniment, adding a touch of freshness to the dish We shared the warm butter cake with macerated strawberries and vanilla ice cream, the perfect ending to our meal. The cake was moist and flavorful, with a delightful buttery taste. The macerated strawberries added a touch of sweetness, while the vanilla ice cream provided a cooling contrast. The presentation was stunning, with each element carefully arranged on the plate Throughout our dining experience, we were impressed by the attention to detail in every aspect of the restaurant. The hostess set the tables with a particular attention to detail, with each menu plate and glass carefully placed with an exactness not witnessed before in any restaurant in the Harrisburg area. The portions were generous, and we were grateful for the opportunity to take home the leftovers, which were neatly boxed for us. Our server, Danielle, was a true highlight of the evening. She was efficient, gregarious, and personable, with an extraordinary interest in our dining experience. Her attentiveness and professionalism enhanced our dining experience immensely. Benaiah's Wood Fired Kitchen is a must-visit for anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience in the Harrisburg area. The food is a true culinary masterpiece, with each dish showcasing the creativity and skill of the kitchen staff. The attention to detail in every aspect of the restaurant is unparalleled, and the service is second to none. We can say, uncategorically, that this was the best dining experience we have had in the Harrisburg area and rivals that of the finer restaurants of...
Read moreFirst things first yes their are plenty of parking in the back and a few in the front as well. There are entrances both front and back of the building and is handicap accessible.
Now then my dad and I walked in the back entrance and was greeted and seated. The ambiance of the restaurant has a rustic and elegant look and feel to it. Our waitress Caroline was patient, friendly and helpful.
So to start off with things we ordered a couple of drinks. My dad ordered the "Benaiah's Old Fashioned" and what I initially had ordered was a "Spicy Peach Faux-garita" but I didn't realize it was non alcoholic cause my mind was blank at the time until I was told that they didn't have certain ingredients to make it and Caroline told me it was a non alcoholic cocktail so I ordered custom made cocktail which was a "Spicy Passion Fruit Margarita" made with their house tequila. My dad said his drink was good but also pretty strong and my margarita was absolutely delicious, I honestly am not a fan of margaritas but this was wonderfully made especially the taste of the house tequila.
For the Appetizer we had ordered the "Crispy Smoked Wings" first thing about the the wings were that they're pretty good sized wings. They had some subtle notes of smokey taste to it which was delicious and the sauce was very good but pickled celery and carrot sticks were delicious.
Now on to the main course of this review, my dad had ordered the "Ribeye" and a side order of "Mac & Cheese - Smoked Cherry Tomato Jam" and I had ordered the "Halibut Rockefeller" and I to had ordered the mac & cheese side as well. The ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was seasoned wonderfully and it was absolutely delicious, my dad really enjoyed the his steak and the potato fingerlings along with the asparagus. The ribeye was wonderful but in my opinion I think the halibut tasted better, the sear was perfect, the crab topping and the asparagus parmigiana was a wonderful touch to the dish but the only issue I had about the dish is that I personally thought the risotto was a bit over seasoned. The mac & cheese with cherry tomato jam was just simply delicious. Overall the main course was absolutely wonderful.
We then decided to have dessert and we got the "Warm Butter Cake" and the "Chocolate Coffee Créme Brûlée". The warm butter cake was okay but if you want a dessert to finish the night well I most definitely recommend the chocolate coffee créme brûlée, one it's not overly sweet it has subtle notes of coffee and the tart raspberry drizzle just enhances the flavor of chocolate and coffee.
My dad and I had enjoyed our experience and will be back for future visits in the meantime I really recommend trying this place out at least once for the food, ambiance and the...
Read moreWe chose this restaurant because it was close to our home. We don't live in the development this restaurant is located in but thought it was an interesting concept since Newfangled had went out of business.
It was not clear what side we were supposed to enter on, so we wound up entering on the incorrect side of the restaurant. No matter, we walked over to where we were to be received and were shown our table quickly.
All of this was fine and acceptable considering this was our first time visiting this place. But what wasn't acceptable was what we went there for. The food and the drinks.
Our waitress was an absolute GEM of a person. I absolutely loved her and this review has nothing to do with the help or with our waitress. She gave us the time, took our order when ready, checked in on us when our mouths weren't full, and all the good things you want from someone waiting on your table.
It was the food, unfortunately. I ordered the Korean Fajitas for $32. I knew these would be smaller plates and all, but my god, when it arrived, the plate was very tiny. The steak was nearly raw (no one had specified that I would need to order it to my liking because I expected fajitas to be on a sizzling cast iron...), the tortillas barely fit in my hand (I am a smaller woman, not a large man), and the vegetables on the side were tiny and unacceptable for $32. I asked to have the steak cooked to my liking, didn't matter if it was the same steak, just cook it properly. It was still very rare and I couldn't eat it when it was returned to our table.
If you like steak, reader, please know that they do not salt their steaks nor age them properly. I very much recommend Longhorn over this place and it will probably save you some money. These people probably have high rents to pay being under the developer's claw and that is why everything is mediocre and high priced. If I pay $32 for a steak and vegetables, I want it to taste as such and be voluminous — and unexpectedly, this place did not deliver.
My drink cost $15 and it was absolutely not up to the specifications of the menu description (hot and spicy martini). My husband's meal was fine but tiny (he is 6'5, not obese, and this was a snack). But the drinks were just so disappointing alongside the food.
Our appetizer was pretty good. Cheesesteak egg rolls. When we received them, though, for the PRICE, holy moly. They were tiny and easily devoured. For about $17? I think?
Maybe it was just our experience because everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves around us, but...although I may not be as creative in the kitchen, I KNOW I can make all of these dishes at...
