Castaway Cafe — Restaurant in Lower Township

Horrible service!! U walk in and are eventually greeted by the hostess, who is a real space cadet & she seems high as a kite! Then we got seated and eventually a waitress came, who u could barely understand bc she seemed to mumble, but we managed to get our drinks ordered. so she returns, sets down my juice & my husband's coffee, & walks away, no creamer, no milk, but whatever. She comes back a little over 5 mins later, my husband asks for creamers n more Splenda, she looks at him like he just sprouted another head & says, "ah, yeah, but don't u want to order food?" He says, yes of course, she looks relieved & whips out her pen & order pad & processed to take out order. I got cream chipped beef, no toast, side of home fries, I confused her, it also took her a full 2 mins to write that down. On to my hubby, he ordered 3 eggs, Sunnyside up, home fries & white toast. Another 2 mins of writing, she looks up & says, "ok & u don't want any meat or anything with It?" He says no that's all. She points to me with her pen & says, "what about her?" I laugh n say, nope im good. But then my husband says, um I would like creamer tho. She walked away, we assumed to get creamer, NOPE. Finally 5 mins later some kid who works there, comes to our table & tosses, no im not kidding, he tosses a basket with creamers in it on the table. So by now coffee is cold. I ask my husband if he wants me to get him a new HOT coffee, he says no bc it will take another 30 mins to come out. SMFH. Ok 20 mins later, food comes out, she sets it down & says to my hubby,I'll be right back with Ur toast, 5 mins later n halfway thru his breakfast, he has toast! Yay!!! She says would u like more coffee, my husband says sure, 10 mins later, she returns, he has another cup, no Splenda. Lol, he used equal instead bc God knows what would have happened if he asked for Splenda....ok so now breakfast is done & we're sitting & sitting & sitting, no waitress. Finally my husband says to another waitress, excuse me but can u please ask our waitress for a container & the check? She says, sure no problem. & Guess what, the waitress he asked returns, less than a minute later with our check n container. Awesome, now we r ready to go. We go to the front to pay out bill, DAMN IT, we have to deal with the spacey hostess again! There's a couple waiting to be seated n us waiting to pay. Oh boy she's thoroughly confused now. Finally she asked the other couple to wait n we pay our bill!!! Absolutely WORST service EVER!!!! I only gave this place 1 star bc the food was actually ok, I don't really have anything to say about it either way, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either. Also, this place is expensive. My husband n I always get the same breakfast Everytime we go out for breakfast n it's usually around $8 and then $3-$4 tip. This breakfast was $19.45 plus $2 for a tip, even tho she didn't deserve it. We are usually in & out in about 35 mins or so. We were here for an hour & 42 mins. So in closing, wait staff is horrible & spacey & unGodly slow, place is expensive & the food is OK.... definitely wouldn't go back! Oh & they are having construction going on in the restaurant, so while Ur eating Ur get to listen to drills and saws!!! Wow, so much fun! Lol, not really! Go...

Since my wife will not say much I decided to let the lower township know about this restaurant, my wife asked for lemonade and got unsweetened ice tea and I had orange crush and her drink came out wrong. I ordered crab cakes fries and apple sauce wife ordered chicken Parm, let me say when u are from Maryland and ask for a crab cake it better be good and they came out looking like broiled mush so it was sent back, waitress ask can I get u anything else as soon as I said cheese burger she split fast, not asking what would u like on it . It comes back with a piece of lettuce as big as my head onion and a cheese burger. I take 2 bites to confirm it's taste and it to was not good at all. So I pay and ask waitress for the owner , she says he probably busy, then sends a waitress over that was no manager to ask what's going on, and I let her know and she says that our crab cakes are the best I'm like your kidding because if it was good I would not have sent it back then I say your chicken isn't fresh she says it's our best dish so I ask them does the crab and chicken come in fresh every day your lucky I'm not able to go to kitchen to look because I know for fact it's been frozen for some time just like crab cakes. I paid $40.00 because that's what I had to do but I will tell you don't ever dine here for dinner, the reviews are Chumped up because that's what sent us there and the food we sent back and ordered was so bad. And our waitress was so bad and my wife let her know that if you don't like your job u should leave and find another. And you should listen to what your customers order and make sure it's right when it comes out. If you don't believe me order what we had and you will soon find out. I will never go here again it was a waste of my hard earned money and now I must go home and make something to eat. Thanks Castaway cafe for a unpleasant dining experience. The first time we ate at the Castaways several months ago, the food was absolutely dreadful...not what I had asked for and overcooked and could not chew the meat on my sandwich. The waitress could not have cared less when most of our food was uneaten...swearing never to return, by chance I had an obligated lunch there...the Belgian waffle with fruit was amazing, but the waitress was distracted an not engaged with our large group. Convincing my better half to try said waffle, they both were very good, but the fruit seemed as if it were split...I got the strawberries and pineapple and he got the banana and blueberries???? Tried to ask the waitress, but that was less than "fruitful". Today was the nail in the coffin...wanting a late breakfast, we headed down the street...arrived at 320, too late for breakfast, ok...the waitress was nice enough, perhaps new, was not very helpful in explaining the specials, roast beef dinner and what the options were and ordering was a bit painful, but we managed. Our roast beef dinner was overcooked lunch meat with a side of fairly decent mashed potatoes and overcooked canned green beans...we picked at our meal, hopeful our little pups at home would enjoy...nope, they wouldn't even eat the beef :( we were 1 of only 2 tables and our waitress just disappeared and we finally had to seek the assistance of another waitress so that we could leave...she was very helpful and apologetic and eventually found our waitress, though still another ten minutes for our check. To end all of this, our dessert to go, rice pudding, the 2 servings combined were barely the equivalent of a standard portion, and it was what we believe to be the sugar free version... I really do not like to post negative reviews such as these, but we honestly gave this place several opportunities only to be left hungry, somewhat ignored, and overall completely...
