Honestly, for a first experience this was a bad one. The first red flag, should have been that i damn near fell out the bottom of my chair when I sat down. As is standard, someone promptly comes to our table and brings chips and salsa. After a minute or so, waiter comes to the table, we order two drinks and a margarita. I ordered a large one. Pointed at it on the menu and everything. The waiter seems to write it all down. 15 minutes later, we donât have drinks. He swings by and seems to notice and asks what we were drinking again even though he wrote it down 15 minutes prior. The restaurant isnât too busy but I tried to let it go. Anyway, he brings the two drinks, and at this point we order a small queso and our food. Another 15 and he brings out the dinner plates weâve ordered. This isnât a long wait really but we also ordered an appetizer and havenât seen it. And letâs not forget the large margarita I ordered 30 minutes ago now. When he sets down the plates he kinda runs off, my plate is wrong. I try not to blame this on wait staff, sometimes itâs the kitchen, but our night isnât going great so far. We flag the waiter down, let him know about the queso, the incorrect dinner plate, and the missing margarita. He brings the queso out promptly, brings my dinner plate back to get fixed and gets lost again. When he brings the dinner plate out again, itâs still wrong, but I let it go this time because Iâve given up. We flag down a manager about the Marquita, he notifies the waiter and it gets brought immediately but itâs a small one. At this point in the meal, I just wanted to finish the food, pay, and leave. I was given rave reviews from friends on this place, but my experience was quite a bit disappointing. Mediocre food, and the service really wasnât that great. I know some things canât be helped and I really try to give places the benefit of the doubt because you never know whatâs happening behind the scenes but people shouldnât be coming in for first experiences in your restaurant and having multiple things go wrong with their meal. Thatâs...
Read moreNormally everything here has been very good!! We like to come here because we can have a margarita without driving all the way to Beaumont. Today wasn't any different and it's been a few months since we've been here. It has been raining all day and I've been under the weather for over a week and was ready to get out of the house for a little bit. The place we were going to do was pretty packed so we decided to come here as they have always been very good with their food and service is always impeccable! Neither one of us were really starving and passed on an appetizer. My wife ordered a dish with two beef enchiladas, a beef taco and a tostada. One of the waitresses brought out chips and salsa. She gave both of us a bowl of their really good red salsa and one bowl of their delicious green salsa. My wife had water and on a whim I ordered a jalapeno Margarita, it just sounded good. I ordered the Barbacoa plate with enough Barbacoa for three tacos, and also rice and beans. As usual the waiters all cover for each other so you've always got someone checking on you and the service was great! They got our drinks out right away and I ordered Sweet tea to go with the Margarita. We found the chips that they brought out were kind of stale, not hot and crisp like they were on our first visit. When the food came out everything looked great! But my Barbacoa was a little off. The seasoning wasn't like it was before and it was really on the dry side. Not what I expect with Barbacoa and I've eaten a lot of good Barbacoa. My wife even commented that her dish wasn't as good as the last time we visited. Maybe they were having an off day, or maybe they had a different cook today. Not sure, we came later in the afternoon a little after the lunch rush. We were just a little disappointed that it wasn't as good as the last visit. On another note the Jalapeno Margarita did clear up my sinuses!!! We'll give them another try sometime and see if it was just an off day and go from there. On the other hand, to be good you have to be...
Read moreLast Sunday, after a morning service, my family and I decided to visit 10 De Mayo for lunch. It was a decision that left us delighted and satisfied beyond expectations.
Upon entering 10 De Mayo, we were immediately impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and promptly seated us, making us feel right at home.
The menu offered an extensive selection of authentic Mexican dishes, each described in a way that made it difficult to choose. Ultimately, we decided to try a variety of dishes. Every plate that arrived was beautifully presented, emitting aromas that promised delicious flavors.
The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the carne asada tacos and the freshly made guacamole. The tacos were packed with perfectly seasoned and tender meat, complemented by fresh cilantro, onions, and a squeeze of lime, wrapped in soft, handmade tortillas. The guacamole was a hit among us, fresh and bursting with the flavors of ripe avocados, tomatoes, onions, and just the right touch of cilantro.
The service at 10 De Mayo was impeccable. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, and every request was met with a prompt and friendly response. The restaurant managed to capture the essence of Mexican hospitality, making our dining experience exceptionally pleasant.
As we finished our meal, we all agreed that 10 De Mayo provided not just great food but a lovely dining experience that we would recommend to anyone looking for authentic Mexican cuisine in a cozy setting. We left with full bellies and happy hearts, already looking forward to our next visit.
