McKinney Station Restaurant and Ice Cream — Restaurant in Lurgan Township

Central PA Turnpike exits are interesting places; some of them - like this one - are pretty spartan places with few options for food, fuel or restrooms. Often times, when there's just one choice, it can be of questionable quality. I'm pleased to report that, McKinney Station is NOT one of those places. Although virtually alone at the exit, we stopped for ice cream cones before getting onto the Turnpike. The service was excellent, the ice cream creamy and better than expected (soft serve can be a roll of the dice). The place is nice, the people are nice, the prices are very reasonable and the ice cream was great. We'll be back when we pass through...

Found this place by chance while looking on Google Maps for a lunch spot along our route that wasn't a service plaza. Glad I did. Easy off/on to the turnpike from either direction; cozy atmosphere; nice people; great service and great food. No gas close by, but Tesla superchargers out back for those in need, and parking on one side for a few big rigs. We had the double cheeseburger basket and the chicken strip basket. Both cooked perfectly. The french fries are some of the best anywhere. For us it was a quick, tasty, reasonably priced lunch close to the turnpike. Will definitely stop again if in the area. Family style resturant, incredible ice cream parlor and adorable farmers market - all in one! Delicious fresh and local food, with many options to choose from. Creamy, perfect soft serve ice cream will win your heart over. Family atmosphere complete with appropriate music, friendly staff and even some cornhole boards and checkers table to entertain the kiddos or your competitive side.
